Guest guest
But they're not mercury-free, that's part of the problem. While the reduction of Hg is a very probable reason for the slowing rates of the increase in ASD, the vaccines that claim to be 'mercury free' really are not, it even says so on some of the labling. A friend of mine who was recently in her ped's office for a tetnus shot asked for the mercury-free shot. The nurse told her that the vaccine WAS mercury- free, but my friend asked to see the lable instert anyhow. What she read was that Thimerisol is used in the production of this vaccine, and this injection may contain trace amounts of mercury. Its like a product claiming to have " Zero Transfats) when in reality it might contain .37 grams per serving of transfats, but hey, techically its still zero! So @# & **^#$% misleading!!!!!!! Guest guest
Regarding the increase for 14-17 year old kids. Guest guest
Well, I wonder if hormones play a role in it (puberty). I've read somewhere that boys with high testosterone levels are more susceptible to getting Autism. That's why boys get Autism 4 to 1 over girls. Re: Children continue to regress with "mercury free" vaccines. Regarding the increase for 14-17 year old kids. The thought is these kids were neuro-typical and then they get the flu shot or boosters when they are in their mid-teens and then they regress to autism?? I don't believe that. Guest guest
Yes, T certainly makes matters worse for boys but I doubt there is ever a case of a 15 year old NT boy getting his flu shot and knocking him into non-verbal, stemming, full blown autism. Even if it had happened on a rare occasion certainly not 127% of new cases of autism in that age group. There would be no controversy if that happened. > > > > > > National Vaccine Information Center Newsletter > > > e-NEWS > > > October 19, 2006 > > > > > > > > > " In the 1960's through the 1970's, autism accounted for > > roughly 3% of the total number of new cases entering the system. > > Beginning in the late 1970's (1978-79) and early 1980's, the > autism > > epidemic began, and the increase grew from 3% to 40% by July > > 2003..... Guest guest
I think it (major regression of some sort) still happens in older boys. My cousin soon after college went from totally normal, social, outgoing, smart, motivated to work to totally withdrawn, could barely make eye contact and had no interest in socializing, quit work, could barely leave the house. I wonder if it was shots he received at Quantico - the FBI academy. Sometime during or soon after he left the academy the cheese totally slipped off his cracker and he quit everything. Was diagnosed manic depressive and his life was never the same. Vaccines? Who knows?? Don't even know if they give them there, but I do wonder. I know other totally normal older boys who one day for no apparent reason changed. The other boy from my hometown went schizo. He too was totally normal until one day he wasn't. A good friend also had a similar story of a boy from high school who one day changed. These sudden changes are definitely out there...vax related? I don't know. > > > > > > > > National Vaccine Information Center Newsletter > > > > e-NEWS > > > > October 19, 2006 > > > > > > > > > > > > " In the 1960's through the 1970's, autism accounted for > > > roughly 3% of the total number of new cases entering the > system. > > > Beginning in the late 1970's (1978-79) and early 1980's, the > > autism > > > epidemic began, and the increase grew from 3% to 40% by July > > > 2003..... Guest guest
I can understand that. That sounds a like later in life diagnosis for probably a high functioning kid. I'm talking about a NT 15 boy gets his shots and 2 days later he is classic non-verabal, stemming autism. Guest guest
Sorry - BL is wrong here. Prenatal Hg exposure via flu vax alone is a confound not yet factored into ecological studies. This becomes even more disconcerting given the very large number of pregnant mothers receiving Hg via flu vax as compared to the very small proportion receiving Hg via Rhogam. Barbara Loe - Wake up and smell the coffee, eh?! > > National Vaccine Information Center Newsletter > e-NEWS > October 19, 2006 > > > " In the 1960's through the 1970's, autism accounted for roughly 3% of the total number of new cases entering the system. Beginning in the late 1970's (1978-79) and early 1980's, the autism epidemic began, and the increase grew from 3% to 40% by July 2003..... By October 2003, autism accounted for 47% of all new intakes, and according to the latest DDS Report for the 3rd. Quarter of 2006, autism now accounts for an astonishing 76% of the intakes now entering California's developmental services system.....One thing is for sure, the hidden hordes of adults with autism that need to be accounted for in order to discredit the existence of an autism epidemic and an increasing incidence of autism, have yet to come forward or be discovered. " - Rick Rollens > Barbara Loe Fisher Commentary: > According to data recently released by the California Department of Developmental Services (DDS), during the third quarter of 2006 California added a record number of new cases of autism to its system, a number that represents the second highest quarterly reported number of new autism cases in the system's 37-year history. The bad news is that the data show a continuing increase in the numbers of young autistic children entering the system. The good news is that there appears to be a marked slowing of the percentage rate increases of new autism cases in younger children. > > Elimination of mercury from most childhood vaccines between 1999 and 2003 may be having an effect on the slowing of the rate of autism increases in young children, a rate of increase which skyrocked out of sight beginning in the early 1980's. However, the fact that the total numbers of young children suffering with autism does continue to increase - even though it is at a slower rate -in Calfironia and other states suggests that mercury preservatives in vaccines may be only one causal factor in the rise in autism among American children during the past quarter century. > > During the past quarter century, the CDC and AAP increased the numbers of vaccinations doctors are told to give American children from 23 doses of 7 vaccines to 48 doses of 14 vaccnies by age five. Although today almost all childhood vaccines contain only trace amounts of mercury or never contained mercury preservatives, such as polio, pneumococcal, hepatitis A and live virus MMR, chicken pox and rotavirus vaccines, parents around the nation continue to report that their children are regressing physically, mentally and emotionally following receipt of multiple vaccines. These parents report their children are becoming chronically ill and disabled, suffering with autism, learning disabilities, ADHD, asthma, diabetes, intestinal bowel disorders and other brain and immune system dysfunction. > > How many more children will be hurt before government, industry and pediatricians open their eyes and see what too much vaccination has done to our children? > > Rick Rollens, co-founder of the M.I.N.D. Institute at UC-, released the following report on the latest numbers of children suffering with autism that are being served in the California DDS: > California Reports Autism Increase With Rate Increase Decline > According to data just released by the California Department of Developmental Services (DDS), during the 3rd. Quarter of 2006 (August through September), California added 841 new cases of autism to it's developmental services system, a number that represents the second highest quarterly reported number of new cases in the system's 37 year history. > > In 1987 there were 2,778 cases in the system, by the end of 2002 the number had increased to 20,377, and today there are 31,853 persons with autism in the system. > > Over 84% of all persons with autism in California's system are between the age of 3 and 21. Currently, 88% of the autism population live at home. > > INCREASING RATE SLOWS DRAMATICALLY > > In 1999, DDS released it's now famous and historic autism caseload report that documented a 273% increase in the number of new cases of autism entering California's developmental services system from 1987 through 1998. > > In 2003, DDS followed up with an updated report that documented a 97% increase in the autism caseload over the 48 month period from December 1998 through December 2002. > > According to DDS, during the most recent 45 month reporting period from January 2003 through September 2006, there has been a 50 percent increase in the autism caseload. The rate of increase declined by nearly half over the previous reporting period. The rate of increase has slowed by close to half from 95 percent to 50 percent during the past 45 months (nearly four years). > > LESS YOUNGER, MORE OLDER CHILDREN ENTERING SYSTEM > > During the four year reporting period between October 2002 and October 2006 there has been a large increase in the 10-21 year old population in the system, while the younger, 3-9 year old cohort reflects the substantial, declining rate of increase as noted above. The largest increase has been in the 14- 17 year olds (127%), while the smallest increase has been in the 22 year olds and older (35%). > > Reasons for this phenomenon could include the lessening burden of mercury in vaccines slowing the numbers of new young children entering the system, a tightening of eligibility criteria that took effect in July 2003 (see last paragraph), and Regional Centers responding to the pressure to qualify more older persons with higher functioning autism spectrum conditions. > > One thing is for sure, the hidden hordes of adults with autism that needs to be accounted for in order to discredit the existence of an autism epidemic and an increasing incidence of autism, have yet to come forward or be discovered. > > TOTAL AGE BREAKDOWN 10/02 AND 10/06 > > October 2002 > 3-5 3932 > 6-9 5697 > 10-13 3531 > 14-17 1732 > 18-21 1047 > 22> 3696 > > October 2006 > 3-5 6188 57% > 10-13 6157 74% > 14-17 3934 127% > 18-21 2021 93% > 22> 4994 35% > > In the 1960's through the 1970's, autism accounted for roughly 3% of the total number of new cases entering the system. Beginning in the late 1970's (1978-79) and early 1980's, the autism epidemic began, and the increase grew from 3% to 40% by July 2003. In July 2003 eligibility criteria was made more difficult for all categories of consumers, with subsequent devastating impacts on the numbers of persons with mental retardation, epilepsy, and cerebral palsy entering the system. > > By October 2003, autism accounted for 47% of all new intakes, and according to the latest DDS Report for the 3rd. Quarter of 2006, autism now accounts for an astonishing 76% of the intakes now entering California's developmental services system. > > Due to the nature of the eligibility regulations adopted in July 2003, autism has been far and away the least impacted category of conditions affected. > > > NVIC E-News is a free service of the National Vaccine Information Center and is supported through membership donations. > > NVIC is funded through the financial support of its members and does not receive any government subsidies. Guest guest
I thought the California numbers counted only " full syndrome autism " ? So how are they getting all these new, older diagnoses? There's a study that needs to be done here.

Guest guest
Folks The largest part of the reason for the increase in CA is that kids get older (interesting yet rather elementary concept). The 14-17 year olds now were 10-13 year olds in 2002. Given the epidemic starting in the 1980's, it is easy to see why these increases are occurring as the rise in autism dx overall became more dramatic. These kids aren't moving from out of state or crawling out from caves. The large numbers of children with autism are just getting older. The overall increase in autism dx in CA can be attributed to new kids entering the system between 2002-2006. Please do the math... > > > > I thought the California numbers counted only " full syndrome > > autism " ? Guest guest
It would also be interesting to see what year the kids were born, knowing what we know about the level of autism in the population born 1996-1999. Are these kids being dxed later, but yet fall in the same general population of those exposed at birth to thimerosal? Re: Children continue to regress with "mercury free" vaccines. Guest guest
What you say is incorrect. What you are saying these kids are getting dignosed twice. Once in the 10-13 year range and then again in 14-17 year old range. That is wrong. The study is for NEW diagnosis. You do the math. > > > > > > I thought the California numbers counted only " full syndrome > > > autism " ? Guest guest
Nope - Sorry... With all due respect, It is total caseload, not new dx. There is a referral to new dx of kids entering into the system but that doesn't pertain to the stratification of age groups. Please go back and look carefully at the information... > > > > > > > > I thought the California numbers counted only " full syndrome > > > > autism " ? Guest guest
To continue - these numbers represent total cases in the system (currently at approximately 30K). This represents an increase of 9K in the system over the last 4 years. The total new cases over last quarter is 841. I would entreat you to look further into the study - I appreciate your concern regarding the increases in 14-17 year olds but the 4K kids in this age group are totals in the system. The net increase is the level at 2006 minus the level at 2002. I can understand the confusion - the information is not worded very clearly. > > > > > > > > I thought the California numbers counted only " full syndrome > > > > autism " ? Guest guest
To clarify - The NVIC alert is worded poorly, not the original CA surveillance report. The CA report makes it clear that these are quarterly numbers and reflect total caseload not new dx... I really hope this helps! > > > > > > > > > > I thought the California numbers counted only " full > syndrome > > > > > autism " ? Guest guest
I wonder if these kids were already ADHD/ADD and were diagnosed with Autism after the boosters. This is just me thinking out loud. It would be great to know if these kids had issues before. Re: Children continue to regress with "mercury free" vaccines. Guest guest
, You should consider submitting a letter to the SAR about this. I think this situation desperately needs clarified based on your explanation of the data. > > > > > > > > > > > > I thought the California numbers counted only " full > > syndrome > > > > > > autism " ? Guest guest
Yep, what says make a whole lot more sense than 172 % increase in new dx of 14-17 year old kids. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I thought the California numbers counted only " full > > > syndrome > > > > > > > autism " ? Guest guest
Thanks, Mark... The reporting on the surveillance study itself is really confusing. I've been looking at the actual reports since 2002 so I was able to fritter out the truth, which is NOT intuitive. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I thought the California numbers counted only " full > > > > syndrome > > > > > > > > autism " ?
