Guest guest
Dana, This is interesting. Do your kids eat a lot of " calcium sourced " foods? Noah eats none but he also refuses calcium supplements. We just finished his regular blood and urine tests and are awaiting the results. However, the results from his previous round of RBC Elements from Doctor's Data (March '06) showed that he was 11 with a ref range of 8- 31 (lower yellow). The chemestry report from the Hospital Lab showed 9.1 ref range 8.9-10.2. We should be getting the results of his recent tests any day. I'm concerned about his thin stature (round shoulders) and poor teeth. Before his Dx, he was on 150mg iron 3x/day for 3 months and a maintainance dose for another 3 months. The large quantities of milk he drank (pre gf/cf) actually blocked his iron absorption resulting in levels that were way too low. This discolored his teeth, but now they are chipping in the front. The Dentist (mainstream) was not concerned as they are " only " his baby teeth, but we are going to take him to a Dentist who specializes in Spec needs kids. I am thinking that, although as of March, he was in the very low end of the reference range, he is showing signs of a deficiency...especially since these last results are older and his refusal for supplements (mostly calcium) has gotten worse. We are anxiously awaiting these results! I didn't even think to check his last labs I appreciate your input, Dana...you are truly an amazing person! Thank You!!! -Trish > > My kids were calcium toxic, despite 2 years of cf without > supplementation, and one of them would refuse supplements if he > realized they were making him feel bad.
