Gaba for calming?

Hi all

I have another question. Our doc gave us gaba for calming my son.

Is it possible that it is doing the opposite. As I have posted

before yeast die off and the start of chelation has my son climbing

the walls.

Doc said activated charcoal, but I can't seem to fit this into his

schedule and have it be effective.

Could other supps be causing this unusual behavior? Other supps we

are using are

l-carnitine

tmg w/folic acid

calcium magnesium

zinc

three lac

molydium picoliate (sp?)

super nuthera

Thats all I can think of right now. My son is stimming and grinding

his teeth, and pretty much bouncing off the walls, which isn't like

him normally. He was pretty bad during yeast die offs, but we got

his yeast count down, so I am confused.

Thanks

Mandy

If you want to try something for calming you may want to try

Theanine Serene with Relora, it has GABA in it as well. We finally

received ours yesterday and took 2 around 4:00 PM and they work.

As well all know the opposite effect could occur with our kids but

it reminded me taking a low dose of valium or xanex. I'm going to

give 2 to my son when he gets home from school today.

I actually ordered some of that the other day-should get it today.

I saw that in a previous post and decided to try it. I was just

worried because it also contains gaba and that doesn't seem to be

helping. I will for sure let you know how that goes. Thanks so

much for your reply, I surely do appreciate all the help I can get.

Yes. GABA could be causing problems. One of the theories is that

overmythelators have too much serotonin (about 20% of autists) and

some supplements, GABA being one, exacerbate that problem. My

daughter becomes aggressive on GABA, inositol, etc.

If that is the case I would try just valerian root if you are

looking for herbal calming agents. It is suppose to be the most

potent out of all of them. Has an unpleasant odor though.
