Tom,

My son did exactly that and ran in circles from ages 2-4. When he was 4 or so

we stopped it by stopping him. We kept interupting him. We stopped him, held

him and told him NO EEEEEEEE. Eventually, this went away. At that point we did

not treat him biologically just lots of speech therapy and ABA.

I have no idea what causes the vocal stims -- viruses etc. but would like to

know.

Hi all,

My 7 year old son has been experiencing loud vocal stims ('EEEEEEEE'!)

and humming accompanied with hyperactivity for about a year now. He

had had the same vocal stims when he was about 3 years old, but they

went away for the most part until last year. I would guess that these

stims are being caused by some sort of pathogen (EBV, Measles, CMV,

HHV6, Lyme? - pick one!), but I have never done blood tests for viral

antibodies. Have any other parents experienced this or know of a way

to address this problem?

Thank you for any help!

My daughter (ADHD, 6.5rys) does this also. She has outbursts and

screaching of random sounds, high pitched. It drives me crazy. I

have asked her why she does it and of course, she doesn't know. It

seems that she goes through periods where it happens often and then

she seems to do better, then she starts again. I have just started

to look into the viral issue so I don't know yet... Hope you get

some good feedback.

To add more to what I said:

I theorize -- and don't KNOW -- that this stimming is because an innocent

child has been mercury poisoned. He wants to play because he's a young boy but

he is not able to function like other kids (cognitive abilities, socialization

etc.). He can not function because mercury and other heavy metals are in his

brain. So what does he do to have fun? -- he does what he CAN do -- he runs in

circles and says EEEEEE. These are wonderful and bright kids who have been

screwed by big pharma criminals.

The answer in my opinion is to treat for mercury toxicity doing what the folks

here do -- get the poison out first -- via CHELATION. Also, speech therapy,

ABA etc.

Tom,

What else is going on in his environment when he does his vocal stims? Is it

noisy, crowded? Does he do it in various different locations (home, yard, mall,

car, school or preschool, etc)? Does he only do it around certain people? Does

he do it at particular times of day (after meals? first thing in the morning?

transition times? bedtime? 2 am?)

Many on the spectrum have sensory hypersensitivity so he may be doing it to

drown out noises which we don't notice but which drive him nuts, or fluorescent

lights (they cycle) so it's like strobe lights to someone who's sensitive, or if

people in his life smell of detergent, deordorant, perfume, cologne, cigarette

smoke, cleaning supplies that may be a factor.

He may have food or environmental allergies which cause sensations (headaches,

etc) he doesn't know how else to deal with. Is he on a special diet? Does he

have any mercury amalgam dental fillings? When was his last vaccine? Have

there been renovations in the home or school recently? Does he have a new

mattress?

Can he talk or otherwise communicate? Have you asked him, nonjudgmentally, why

he does the stims?

Abid, , and - thank you for your responses.

Since is mostly non-verbal, I can't ask him why he makes the

stimming sound. We have tried to interrupt him while he makes the

sound, but a few seconds later he will continue making the sound

again.

- makes the sound only at home for the most part, but he

will on occasion do it outside of the house (e.g., at a

restaurant). My first guess is that the stim is caused by a pathogen

(s), but my second guess would be that it's environmental, as you

say. This could be due to undetected mold within the walls, or even

the effects of that wonderful cell phone tower that's located about

800 feet from the house (electromagnetic sensitivity).

has never had amalgam fillings and we stopped the vaccinations

after the MMR when he was 15 months old (15 months too late!).

If I find anything that stops or even reduces the stims, I will let

the board know.

Thanks again,

Tom

This was one of my son's yeast symptoms.

Hyperactivity and vocal stims (repeating the same phrase over and

over, hooting, complusive mouth noises) were viral symptoms for my son

(EBV, possibly varicella). I suggest taking a look at the viral file

for this list, using onibasu to search for more detail, and then

coming back with whatever questions you have. Treatment with Virastop

got rid of all symptoms...although I'm finding I need to re-treat

every year or so.

This is such great news Nell! I'm not going to read one more post

tonight because I want to think only about n the artist in the

beret and a smile :-)

I'm sure other people feel the same way, but right now I'm up to my

ass in pills and powders and your inspiring post lets me be happy

about that fact instead of & ((%#$$*%%.

Thanks,

Anita

This has been my experience too. Even things that seemed logically

Thanks Anita :). It really has been amazing to see how useless all

that teaching was -- I kind of cringe now, remembering how I used to

grab his wrist and make him wave. Not that that taught him *anything

:P. But 4 months into chelation and he was waving hello and good bye

without a word from me. Pills and powders!
