Guest guest
Hi Jon, LDN is not a product like cough syrup that you can just pick up at a pharmacy. It needs to be compounded, and to do that the pharmacy needs a doctor's prescription. Guest guest
Jon, Once you get a prescription then where to get it from is easy. Even though they are in Adelaide and I am in Melbourne I have used The Green Dispensary (see ://www.greendispensary.com/ <http://www.greendispensary.com/>) for well over 3 years now for my LDN. The people there are very helpful. My initial lots from a place over here in Melbourne cost me about $170 for each 100 capsules (4.5mg). The Green Dispensary were then charging $90 for the same thing and use naltrexone powder, far better than crushing the tablets as that place (and many others) do. It then cost $5 for acidophilus and $5 postage making it a round $100. Used to cost me a lot more than $5 in petrol to go and pick them up locally! Over the years inflation has pushed the price to $100 for the base 100 x 4.5 mg caps. I recommend using the Green Dispensary for a number of reasons. Their prices are by far the best I have found (as I said, almost half the cost of the place I initially used), their service is excellent and fast ($5 postage), they do a lot of LDN compounding which is extremely important (see below), use the pure naltrexone powder and don't just crush the 50mg tablets and you can have the capsules made up in virtually any size you want and with any filler (I use acidophilus which costs me $5 extra). Wherever you get it from make sure they don't use calcium carbonate for filler as that tends to pack down making the naltrexone become slow release which defeats its helpfulness for us. It is very important to use someone who knows what they're doing with LDN. On the low dose naltrexone group we have seen a lot of people who used local pharmacies to do the compounding and didn't feel it was helping. They then changed to using one of the recommended pharmacies (US) and immediately felt a positive difference. See http://www.low dose naltrexone.org/comp_pharm.htm I'm not sure I can help you re a doc in Sydney but if nobody else comes forward with suggestions (eg. Crystal or Cris of Case Health) I'll see if someone I know of on LDN in Sydney for her MND can give me her doc's info. croma_clear1 wrote: > Thanks Dudley. > > Unfortunately though the link to the pharmacy works but no product is > there..perhaps has been removed or something ?! > > jon > > > >> Hi Jon, >> >> This site will tell you how to obtain LDN: >> >> http://tinyurl.com/2dfbvd >> >> With best wishes, >> >> Dudley Delany >> >> dudley_delany >> >> >> [low dose naltrexone] LDN Therapy/Supply Australia - Having >> > Big Problems getting it - Help ! > >> Ive just come back from the third Doctor asking to be given the chance >> at LDN therapy..yet again Ive been denied. never a reason given..they >> don't want to know flat out... >> >> Ive Sjogren's & Hashimotos and not on any immunosuppressing meds..and >> feel I deserve the chance at trying LDN now.. >> >> 3 Doctors 3 no no's >> >> If anyone can help with a Doctor's name or help in how to receive LDN >> in Sydney or perhaps Canberra..please email me >> >> Thanks in advance >> >> Jon >> >> >> >> >>
Guest guest
Well done ...you beat me to an email to Jon !! Us Aussie have to stick together and help each other out... Jon - I've referred a friend of mine who lives in SA to my doc here in Melbourne and she flew over, had her appointment and got her script the same day... As advises the Adelaide compounding pharmacy is cheaper than the ones here in Melbourne but I managed to get my pharmacist to match the cost of the LDN in SA and so now have a standing order with them for cheaper.... Also, if you don't come up with another doc in Sydney who will prescribe you LDN.....and you're willing to take a trip down to Melbourne to see a doc, I'm happy you to refer to mine... Good luck... Guest guest
Excellent news Jon! Lactose, avicel, acidophilus are all generally considered fine as LDN fillers. The one you need to avoid is calcium carbonate as that can apparently pack down and cause the LDN to become slow release - not good. As far as your supplements go - should be no problems. I've been taking plenty of supplements along with the LDN - the only contraindications are things containing opioids. croma_clear1 wrote: > Guys > > What a difference a day can make..Ive got my script and have found my > local phamacy has been dispensing LDN for several local customers for > a few years.... > How did I get the script ?! ...lets just say persistence knowing your > facts and a bit of luck made it all happen.. > > The only thing Ive got to ask is what filler the Pharmacy uses or can use. > > Im using Thyroid extract currently which is compounded which uses > lactose..and Ive never had issues with that so..if they use lactose it > wont bother me..but is lactose OK for LDN use ? anyone confirm ? > > Thanks for all suggestions..wont be long before I will give it a go.. > > Cheers > > Jon
Guest guest
Hi , could you please tell me/us what you have been taken as of "plenty of things with LDN"....are you thinking of vitamine supplements or medicines like immune modulators? Guest guest
Hi Ingrid, Some background: for the first 5 years after my diagnosis with PLS (Primary Lateral Sclerosis, a form of motor neurone disease) I progressed relatively quickly to the point of needing a walker to get around and having very poor speech. I did take various antioxidants (mainly vit C and vit E) at times in that 5 years, but never rigorously and consistently. Within 6 months of starting rigorously on the wide range of various antioxidants I began taking my progression stopped and for the subsequent 9 years now has been virtually non-existent except for my speech which very, very slowly continued to decline, although I feel that is more due to lack of use (because only my family could understand it even 8 years ago anyway). I just wish I had found all the info on antioxidants earlier!! If I could stand beside myself 8 years ago then I would no doubt notice some decline but it has been so slow as to be virtually non existent to me. A great website I used as the source of much of my info on antioxidants is http://home.goulburn.net.au/~shack/ Steve, the guy whose site it is, has ALS but has actually improved since he started on all his antioxidants before me - that isn't meant to happen with ALS! The info is oriented towards that but also applies to things like MS and PLS. I worked up my list of antioxidants based primarily on what I found there. There is an almost overwhelming volume of info there now - 8 years ago there was far less. The antioxidants etc I have taken for about 9 years are: NAC (n-acetyl-cysteine) 1 x 500mg alpha lipoic acid 1 x 100mg CoQ10 1 x 30mg Vit E (mixed tocopherol - apparently better than just d-alpha formula) 1 x 1000 IU Vit C & E with grape seed extract 1 x ?? but no longer made as of a few months ago melatonin 1 x 3mg (about every 2nd day) Vit B 1 multi-B tablet Fish oil/EPA 2 x 1000mg In the last year or two due to things I've learned on here I've added: Benfotiamine 1 x 150mg DLPA (DL-phenylalanine) 2 x 375mg - enhances LDN endorphin effect but not to be taken by people with high blood pressure The LDN I started almost 4 years ago as an extra preventative against deterioration and I found within a few weeks that my walking improved slightly and about 9 months after starting it my urinary urgency improved significantly! Hope that helps! Guest guest
Hi , thank you for your interesting info, I have now been reading Shackels sites, and I have really learned a lot. I suggest that all in here take a look at those sites, they contains huge amounts of information about things that most of us could use in combinations with LDN, it's also a lot to learn about the disease ALS. Thanks a lot C :-) With all my best Ingrid Re: [low dose naltrexone] Re: LDN Therapy/Supply Australia - Having Big Problems getting it - Help !Hi Ingrid,Some background: for the first 5 years after my diagnosis with PLS (Primary Lateral Sclerosis, a form of motor neurone disease) I progressed relatively quickly to the point of needing a walker to get around and having very poor speech.
