You may want to check out the NVIC at www.nvic.org <http://www.nvic.org/> .

Also, you may want to check out Dr. Cave's book, if you haven't already.

It's called " What Your Doctor May NOT Tell You about Childhood

Vaccinations. "

you're scared. "

Subject: [ ] IPOL vaccination for Polio

I have a six year old daughter (my son is the one with Autism) who, I

am told by her doctor, is in need of a Polio shot. I was also told

that the IPOL was safe and was not derived from anything bad like

aborted babies or monkey kidney's...is this true? I was also told that

Polio is making a come back and Canada has had some cases and it's

coming this way. Can anyone tell us what to do because we may be going

out of the country in 2007 so I really think that she needs

something. Thanks so much and God bless.

You may want to look at this.

abmd/message/67351

There is NO way I would ever give another vaccine of any type to anyone

I love.

The current polio vaccine is IPV (inactivated polio vaccine). The live

OPV (oral polio vaccine) has long been discontinued. Since we were

traveling to India this summer, I gave my ASD son his IPV booster (he

is 5 yrs old), because polio is endemic there. I don't know about the

contents of the vaccine other than it doesn't contain Hg and it

doesn't contain a live virus (hence, inactivated). It probably

contains Al (most vaccines do). It really was the lesser of 2 evils

for us, because of the travel to India. People who grew up in the 40s

and 50s still remember how awful a disease polio was and even my DAN!

strongly recommended it because my son had no titres to polio.

Anyway, my son had no ill effects from it and I'm glad we did it. If

you are travelling in 2007 to a country where polio is endemic, I

would certainly seriously consider the IPV for your 6 year old.

All the best!

My Sister got polio when she was five and her one

leg is useless. She has had a normal life

anyway, but if there is no mercury in this

vaccine I recommend vaccination. I also went to

school with a boy who had it and walked with a

limp only so he was lucky. A man who used to cut

my hair had one arm that was useles due to polio.

Many, many children were affected and after

vaccine, almost noone, so it isn't something to

be avoided if it is safe now.

Last I heard, all the reported cases of polio in the US (and probably Canada)

were among vaccinated folks (caused by the vaccine). Are you going to a

developing nation? Here's the ingredient list I found:

IPOL

Inactivated Polio Vaccine

Connought Laboratories 1-800-822-2463

Produced using 3 types of polio virus, formaldehyde, phenoxyethanol

(antifreeze), neomycin, streptomycin, polymixin B.

Medium: VERO cells, a continuous line of Monkey kidney cells.

There are some other things to consider about vaccines (mercury-free

or not). Many of them contain other metals for preservatives such as

aluminum. If your kids have a genetic weakness for appropriately

detoxing metals, you should be very cautious of introducing anything

of this nature into their systems. I, personally, am not so trusting

of the vaccine manufacturers anymore. Even if they told me their

vaccines were completely free of all metals with no monkey or

baby " debris " in the mix, I wouldn't believe them to be true to their

word. And you never know when you'll get a vaccine from a batch that

was " botched " but not considered important enough to withold from

public distribution.

On the DAN! videos from Boston 2005, does a marvelous talk on

vacines. She addresses polio specifically. It was a real eye opener for me.
