Guest guest
The Amish also breastfeed, I'll bet. There is really, really good evidence that the development of the gut is tied to bacterial exposure and breastfeeding. Mice who are kept in a sterile environment have very messed up guts. So what do we feed our babies? Sterilized milk. Plus our kids get antibiotics regularly and no probiotics, so we extra-sterilize their guts. Also rats that are fed powdered cows milk as rat pups get messed up guts. So what do we feed our babies? Sterilized powdered cow milk. The tie to mercury is more vague ... there are places where the mercury exposure went up while the rates of autism went down. Plus you have places in Japan and other countries where there is a huge mercury exposure but no corresponding autism increase. Once your gut is messed up you DO react to a lot more stuff than if you had a healthy gut. But personally I blame Enfamil for the gut damage ... that and those nice little glutenified crackers ... -- Heidi Synergistic toxicity > Suppress research on dangers and connection to diseases > Searching for children who had not been exposed to mercury in > vaccines -- the kind of population that scientists typically use as a > " control " in experiments -- Dan Olmsted scoured the Amish of Lancaster > County, Pennsylvania, who refuse to immunize their infants. Guest guest
I also wonder how many of those Amish (both mothers and children) are drinking raw milk. Guest guest
Only 300,000 autistic in the US??? I doubt it. Maybe if your statistics don't include all 50 states....then that might be correct. I have run into too many people in my daily life dealing with autism. When I find a person in each one of my college classes that has an autistic child, my dentist has an autistic child, my kids dentist has autistic grandchildren and I run into a person with an autistic child at least once a month.......I just can't believe that number. Guest guest
That was just from basically a three year old survey (2003-2004). Where are we now? The wording of the questions makes the surveys very protective of special interests. The surveys results are problematic in that they used lots of dual qualifiers for many questions. Any baseball fan can find his favorite player's statistics updated with each at bat. A race fan can hook up to in-car data and actually see the motor conditions and even listen to the driver talk on his in-car radio during the race with only a few seconds to a few minute's delay. It seems with real life we have to wait for CDC to throw out all statistics they have collected instantly on medical polling computers, wait for them to devise, print and distribute surveys to who knows who, hope the surveys don't fall into the hands of biased groups willing to stuff the ballot box so to speak, hope they are honestly filled out and returned, and then wait two to three years before they can tell the press that according to parents doctors have told them that autism rates aren't changing. And when some of the press start asking the tough questions the legitimacy of the surveys crumbles. Oh, this was just based on what parents said. The responsible members of the media took this with a grain of salt and disregarded it as insignificant. Then there was the rest of the media just wanting to find a number that fit their agenda. The real data, the numbers that Frist and the White House are getting on demand with a click of the mouse, that's what we need. Until CDC comes clean they are an impediment to progress. I fully understand that for most parents it is impossible for them to make a decision based on a controversy. Apparently, the politicians do not care about the welfare of American infants and children, and will not care until the special interests they represent are off the hook.
