Does Breaking the Vicious Cycle...by Elaine Gottschall have recipes in

it? Does anyone know what the book entails? Should I buy it or the

book that has recipes by another lady?

Thank you,

Trish

The Breaking the Vicious Cycle book does indeed have a good number of

recipes, and I think it is critical to have it if you plan to start the diet

in earnest. I found mine for very little used on either half.com or Amazon.

If you have enough in your budget for one more book, I highly recommend The

Grain-Free Gourmet as an accompaniment. There are others, but I really like

that one personally.

Best Wishes,

There are hundreds of SCD recipes on the web. The book is great to have for

other reasons, even though it does have some great recipes. Once your on the

diet, it's a great support.

I have to mention that the honey mentioned in the book as a sweetener has

been disputed by many as it is a YEAST FEEDER.

Research it please as I am not an expert, but when we went on this diet, we

learned about the negative of the honey the hard way.

Okay, I will look into the honey, right now honey is all we use to

sweeten things. I ordered the book today and I also went to

pecanbread.com and copied lots of recipes already. :)

Elaine says that some ASD kids cannot tolerate honey, but we've kept a pretty

close watch on the yeast and honey, which we devour by the truckload, isn't a

problem for us. I think its a person by person thing, but whether yeast is the

culprit or not I'm not sure.

We are just getting started with SCD too. We've been using only honey

as a sweetener for about 1 1/2 wks and so far so good. Keeping my

fingers crossed.

My daughter did not tolerate honey when we first began diet

restrictions due to it's high salicylate content. She tolerates it

much better now, but we still don't use too much because of the yeast

aspect.
