Guest guest
Hi Abid, Sorry you are having a hard time, I remember how nervous we were. I don't really think the dosage was too high, but some kids can be ultra-sensitive. Probably a bug, but to be safe, drop the dosage of the Ala to just 5 mgs. Not that I think it was too high at 10 mgs, but more important that you be comfortable. Let us know, Abid, how he does with the next round. [ ] My Son's 2nd Round -- Problems -- Advice Please We are on my son's (5y.o. and 38lbs) 2nd round of chelation. In this round, we introduced ALA. We are giving 10mg DMSA + 10mg ALA every 3.5 hours (we put the mixture into apple juice). We have run into the following problems: On day 2 he has a 102 degree fever. We gave him Advil. Was this appropriate? Should we stop chelation? Also, he seems to be throwing up his chelators. What should I do? Should I be using a transdermal form of DMSA? Is their a transdermal form of ALA available? Please advise. Thanks. Abid =======================================================
Guest guest
I would say the same. Maybe Andy can add more insight? We never stopped a round from the lethargy, as it usually didn't show up until the last 24 hours anyway. Maybe stop this round, do next round only dmsa again, add ala in on the 4th round at a smaller dose and let us know what happens. Good luck. We'll be thinking of him. --------- [ ] My Son's 2nd Round -- Problems -- Advice Please > > > > We are on my son's (5y.o. and 38lbs) 2nd round of chelation. In > this round, we introduced ALA. Guest guest
Do you think I should reduce the DMSA also? Guest guest
No, think the dmsa dosage is fine, but I would keep the dose timing very strict, try every 2.5 hours during the day and every 3 at night. But if it makes you more comfortable, and I am a big believer in doing what is comfortable, you could drop the dmsa dose down a little. Some people are fast oxidizers or use up supplements/medicine at fast rates, so better to be safe. You can gauge by the Ca/P portion of the hair test, if you post that number others can tell you if your boy is a fast or slow oxidizer. Most kids who have trouble, or either given too high a dose (don't think that is the problem here) or given the chelators too far apart (that seems most likely here).
