Guest guest
I can tell you what has cured me of it. I started to drink kefir (I make my own) made from real/raw milk! Plus I quit refined sugars. I now drink a good 12 to 24 ounces of kefir daily and have no more reflux. Kids love it made into smoothies. (frozen fruit, kefir, raw honey or raw sugar) My dgs is at the point will drink it plain! If you need grains to make your own, let me know. I am in Andover and have extras. My reflux was so bad I was on the max amount of meds prescribed by the doc and they were going to start me on a second one. Now I do not take any meds for it and feel great almost all the time. I only have a wee bit of a problems once in a while when I have PMS. So then it is a hormonal thing and still a rare thing for me now. Guest guest
I have a family history of stomach ulcers and GERD. I seem to have eliminated my stomach issues with the 3 K's: kraut, kombucha and kefir. Also, taking a little ACV (apple cider vinegar) each day helps, because, as you know, the stomach is a very acidic environment. The conventional meds reduce your stomach's acid, which is counter-intuitive b/c you need acid to digest food, and the stomach tries to compensate for the reduced acid by producing more, causing a vicious cycle. This is how the drug companies make their millions. Chewing food thoroughly is probably the best way to prevent and avoid acid reflux. We're all so hurried these days that people gulp without chewing and tasting their food. It's a sad state of affairs and I'm just as guilty as anyone. ~Joe
Guest guest
Could someone tell me what kombucha is and why it is beneficial? I have never heard of it. inishglora <inishglora@...> wrote: I have a family history of stomach ulcers and GERD. I seem to have eliminated my stomach issues with the 3 K's: kraut, kombucha and kefir. Guest guest
, Kombucha is a fermented tea using sugar as the food for the culture. The living brew is loaded with antioxidents, anticarcinogens, phytonutrients and other beneficial substances far too numerous and complex to list here. The mushroom inoculant converts the sugar into these healing compounds. For details, GOOGLE " benefits of Kombucha " or " how to make Kombucha " and be prepared to be impressed. Guest guest
Consider increasing your anti-fungals. My son's reflux was from yeast and bacterial overgrowth. One side effect from acid reflux medications is yeast overgrowth. One viscious cycle. a > > My son's Acid Reflux is really flaring up after round one of Chelation. > He's been using Orange Drop Oil to soothe it but I don't think it's > working. Guest guest
> My son's Acid Reflux is really flaring up after round one of Chelation. At my house, reflux was caused usually by food or supplement intolerance, sometimes by yeast overgrowth. Try increasing your yeast protocol. If that does not help, try a different chelator. Guest guest
My son is currently taking DMSA 6.25mg every four hours 3 days on 5 days off. We use Grapfruit Seed Extract 250mg (up from 125mg last week) spread throughout the day and are on the SCD diet for 34 days. We have also tripled his probiotics and his stools are the most solid and consistant that they have ever been so I tend to think we have the yeast more under control then we ever have? Does that make sense. He had Acid reflux as a baby through about 6-9 months and it sort of faded away on its own but is back full force with the chelation. He is grabbing his throat and in ovbvious pain when it happens. We are going to our Dan! this afternoon but I want to be ready and know what to expect with whatever he suggests. Any suggestions?? Guest guest
My son has had acid reflux on and off for many years. He really had a problem with GSE re reflux although it appeared to help candida. I reluctantly stopped it due to relfux but I have just started supplementing Betaine HCl in the hope that it helps his stomach digest the food better (I had advice on this and also in the Sunderland protocol) Has anyone else had success with supplementing this? In you case sounds like he may be finding the GSE a little hard going. I sympathise, my son's relfux can be awful, almost constant to the point where he develops a hoarse cough in his throat. Guest guest
Have you tried putting the GSE into a capsule? S S <p>My son has had acid reflux on and off for many years. Guest guest
No I haven't, the GSE is orignally capsule form but I put it into his juice. You think I should leave it in the capsule and try to get it down that way???
Guest guest
How are you administering the dmsa? It can be irritating to the mouth, throat, esophagus. If he is chewing it, eating it etc. Also, is he on digestive enzymes? This can help with that. You can also try activated charcoal when he is having obvious syptoms, it will absorb whatever is backing up on him and causing the burning. I only mention that dmsa can be irritating, because my son chews his up and had trouble with mouth irritation. We had to make sure he was getting lots of water to wash it down. > > > > My son is currently taking DMSA 6.25mg every four hours 3 days on > 5 > > days off. Guest guest
Sorry, I meant the dmsa, how is he taking that. I also put the GSE in juice and we have been ok with that. It's the dmsa that irriates him. > > No I haven't, the GSE is orignally capsule form but I put it into his > juice. There might be foods those enzymes are not addressing, that might be causing the reflux. You can try adding Zyme Prime, see if that helps. Or, rotate thru foods. Enzymes did not address a few food issues for my son. Dana
Guest guest
I also open up the DMSA and put it into a peanut butter ball, because my son started spitting out the capsules. But I can go back to the capsules if that might be the cause? Is DMSA very hard on the throat? sarah
Guest guest
We give it the same way, and it seems ok as long as we make him slug down some water after each dose. I think it could be irritating if he is not drinking afterwards to rinse it all down and out of his teeth. I know we came to a point when my son was refusing his dmsa and all other supplements on a round. We couldn't figure out why at first but then finally he said it hurt and pointed in his mouth. So after that we made sure he drank a bunch of water following eating it. And it has been fine since. So it's worth a try that maybe it is making his throat/esophagus hurt. Ya never know. > > I also open up the DMSA and put it into a peanut butter ball, because > my son started spitting out the capsules. But I can go back to the > capsules if that might be the cause?
