Guest guest
After reading a recent post on here it occured to me that the SNT may be causing my son's hyperactivity, I can't figure it out otherwise. Does anyone else have a suggestion for anything comparable to SNT? It seems that he started getting hyper after we started on all of his vitamins and supplements
Guest guest
I don't have a good answer for a multivitamin that will replace SNT, but you can buy individual vitamins. We had a horrendous SNT experience, probably the high B6. I bought P-5-P (active form of B6) and he did just fine. Guest guest
Have you checked the spectrum complete to see if the p5p and other suspected vites are lower? It is hypoallergenic also and has no flavorings added. Sometimes the flavorings are not a good idea for some kids. My son uses this as he is already hyper, and it did not make him more hyper. Otherwise, you may be able to find a chewable that will work and just give him more of them a day. Likely you will still have to add in additional individual vitamins. It seems that no one makes one that contains all you need. Also, is he on enzymes? Maybe he is not absorbing them or one of the ingredients in the SNT he is sensitive too. > > > > After reading a recent post on here it occured to me that the SNT may > > be causing my son's hyperactivity, I can't figure it out otherwise. > > Does anyone else have a suggestion for anything comparable to SNT? Guest guest
Thanks, Jan. For us it was a form of B6 (pyridoxine HCL?) in SNT other than P-5-P that caused the problems. I do use a multi from New Beginnings (Basic Nutrients Plus) that covers many of the bases; but I don't know how it compares to SNT. It might be the high doses of B vitamins in general. You can start with something with low dose, and then gradually increase it over a period of a few months. B vitamins tend to increase yeast, so watch for that. Dana
Guest guest
Right now he takes SNT without A & D, since he gets A & D from the cod liver oil. So if I give him hypoallergenic SNT with P5P that has A & D, do I need to adjust the cod liver oil? or would it be OK to get the extra A & D - right now he takes 1 teaspoon in the morning of the cod liver oil. Maybe I should be giving him more anyway? Sorry, but all of these vitamins and minerals are completely greek to me, I have no clue as to which ones I can safely give more of or which ones I should give only certain amounts of, and what I should look for in him to suggest vitamin deficiency. Any insight would be helpful. Maybe there's a " Vitamins for Dummies " out there? He is also on all three enzymes from Houston. Thanks, Stacey > > > > > > After reading a recent post on here it occured to me that the > SNT may > > > be causing my son's hyperactivity, I can't figure it out > otherwise. > > > Does anyone else have a suggestion for anything comparable to > SNT? Guest guest
Stacey, Add up the Vitamin A, minus any beta carotenes and the amount should not be more than 1/4-1/2 of his body weight, for example, if he weighs 40 lbs he should be getting no more than 10 to 20 thousand IU's of A per day. Guest guest
Although we tested positive for measles antibodies, and if I drop Asher below 25,000 IU / day of A (he doesn't weigh 40 lbs), his eye stims return. So, I think that should be taken into consideration. Guest guest
Yes, agree with Anne, some kids need a LOT of Vitamin A, as the measles just wiped them out. We find with the Armour and giving phosphatidylcholine which helps the A get absorbed, we need about 1/4 mg per lb, but many kids need much more, up to 1 thousand mgs per lb.
