Guest guest
Nell, My son's did exactly the same thing. His third hair test is now definitely meeting the counting rules while the first two were questionable. He has also had over 100 cycles of chelating and has viral issues. HMMM . . . . Barb [ ] Andy/Moria -- what's going on with this hair test? The background: n (age 7) has done 73 rounds of ALA or ALA+DMSA, with such great improvements he's lost his dx although is not completely recovered. This is his fourth hair test. The first was suspicious, the second, after 23 rounds, was " unusual " for 3 rules and had 4 toxic elements in the red and 2 in the yellow. Below are the third and fourth tests, taken a year apart. Why would the third test, after 40-some rounds, look normalized, and the fourth, after 72 rounds, meet the counting rules? Does that mean further exposure? I'm continuing to chelate because he still usually seems better during a round, but his main problem now is recurring viral trouble. Is the hair test at all affected by viruses? I guess my main question is, wouldn't you expect that after 2.5 years of chelation and supps, and the dx dropped, that the hair test would have normalized? Guest guest
Definitely not an expert here but only making a suggestion based on what I have read. Could it be possible that you are finally getting down to just the mercury? It can take many years to remove mercury. Keep in mind that without chelation and no further exposure it can take more than 25 years for mercury to leave the brain. Maybe many of his other toxic metals are finally removed and the mercury is making it's real appearance. Also bear in mind that there is a small margin for error in any test. Again, this is only a suggestion that might make some sense of it. Either way, chelation is continuing. And mercury is there to be chelated. > > The background: n (age 7) has done 73 rounds of ALA or ALA+DMSA, > with such great improvements he's lost his dx although is not > completely recovered. Guest guest
Ni Nell, I posted yesterday but it seems that my post did not go through... Amy Yasko says that viruses hold onto metals. I am starting to believe it. I've chelated my severe ASD son for 2 years and that brought him language and his autistic-like behaviors went away. We took a 10 months break thinking we were all done but he started having absence seizures so I resumed some supplements and chelation. Nothing really happened. I started anti-virals and I now see lots of good thigs happening (he is very happy, much more mature socially and emotionally, very creative and his imaginary play really took a turn). His first hair test met two of the counting rules. Then, hair tests kept improving on chelation, his last one was normal. I plan on doing another one next month and I bet this one is not going to look normal. We'll see, I'll keep you posted. > > The background: n (age 7) has done 73 rounds of ALA or ALA+DMSA, > with such great improvements he's lost his dx although is not > completely recovered. Guest guest
Do any of you think that viruses can mess up mineral transport on a hair test, in addition to mercury? How do you explain the fluctuations in hair test results? in Illinois

Guest guest
If your child has viral issues you need to do a 48hr eeg to rule out continuous spike and wave seizures. My son has been having them since 3 and have never been diagnosed even though we have done so many eegs. He has started on Lamictal and he is really starting to progress. We did chelate for years with good results but nothing like the Lamictal has done overnight. nne > > > > The background: n (age 7) has done 73 rounds of ALA or > ALA+DMSA, > > with such great improvements he's lost his dx although is not > > completely recovered. We'll see, I'll keep you posted. *Please do! The pattern of your son's tests so far makes sense -- gradual improvement that matches with his recovery. And I can see how a hair test could look normal when there's still some Hg or lead causing damage. But I don't see why n's test would normalize and *then meet the counting rules. Or I mean I can see that events could cause that to happen but I have no idea what they were in this case. Nell

The anti-virals might have helped " freeing " more metals and made the chelation more effective. When you start chelating, the hair test usually looks worst. We did 80 rounds here, but I feel like we are starting chelation all over again! I feel like he could not excrete some metals during these two past years of chelation, and these metals are now coming out! If his hair test looks like n's one, then it would confirm that feeling. And it means that we are in for another couple years of chelation.... sigh...

If I recall correctly he even says that once you are done chelating, your immune system should be strong enough to fight and eliminate the viruses. Some people say that if you get rid off viruses, then your body can finally excrete metals on his own. I am no expert, but it seems to me that viruses and metals are linked somehow... However, unfortunately, all chelation did was allow them to tolerate the supplements which were required to eliminate the viruses. They still needed the anti-virals. Who knows. I guess I can't rule out another exposure but I've racked my brain and can't think of anything -- same house, no trips, no changes I can think of. In fact, at that magic round 60 he was doing incredibly well. What's happened since then is, I think, a very slow slide into viral trouble again. At the moment I'm trying the kitchen-sink method Andy recommended, and have him on ViraStop, ProNoost, OLE, sambucol, and Vit A. Not for the faint of heart, lol. We did 80 > rounds here, but I feel like we are starting chelation all over again! > I feel like he could not excrete some metals during these two past > years of chelation, and these metals are now coming out! Are you using the same chelators, but getting different effects? Nell
Guest guest
Lamictal is much better than Depakote. AT 9 my son is awakening w/ the Lamictal. Taurine is not enough to stop my son's seizures and back in October when I was doing the virastop my son had status seizure that lasted 4 hrs so be careful. What dose of taurine is your son on. My son also seems to be responding to the glycemic index diet. I believe diet is essential w/ getting seizures under control. I started chelating my son in 2001. We chelated every other weekend for 3 years and chelation help my son a great deal as did Valtrex, enzymes and diet but nothing has done what the combination of Lamictal and diet has done for my son. nne - In , " jromkema " <jromkema@...> wrote: > > What is Lamictal? Guest guest
It isn't clear to me what is going on, but one reason I tell people not to bother with serial hair tests is that they often give confusing answers like this. The change between the tests isn't very big if you look at the numbers or the bars on the page instead of the counting results. The potassium falling through the floor suggests you might consider whether he has thyroid issues, but I wouldn't torture him with a test unless other things suggest he does. Find a list of symptoms and go over it. With the all low kind of situation supplementary stomach acid (betaine hydrochloride) or digestive enzymes are often helpful in improving overall condition. See what the test says if you do it next year to confuse yourself. In the meantime, chelate chelate chelate.
