Yes, way too high, the standard dose for low/frequent dosing is 1/4 mg per lb of

kid to start with, so for your boy it would be about 8-9 mgs of oral dmsa given

every 4 hours during the day and the night. You can work up to 1/2 mg per lb

over many rounds.

You are likely to find this amount way easier than the huge amount in the

suppository and your boy will be more comfortable.

In case you worry this is not enough, we used this method with our little one,

and she completely recovered. Less is more, in some instances.

Thanks for sharing your experience, and sincere congratulation for your son's

recovery. The recovery of my son is my BIGGEST dream in my life, and I'm working

on it diligently.

My DAN is recommending single dose of DMSA for 3 days ON and 11 days OFF. Is

400mg way too high? I'm concerned about this as during ON days it was really

difficult to manage(pulling my wife hair, crying etc...) my son when I gave him

400mg suppository DMSA.

Also now I'm wondering I should adopt/switch to low/frequent DMSA dose, even

plus ALA. Any further comments are highly appreciated.

Yes, you should switch. I would NEVER give a small child that amount of

DMSA at one time!

Four-hour dosing is SO IMPORTANT.

Wenwei,

You can just divide the 100 mg capsule in 10 equal doses. I use post-it-notes,

it doesn't have to be exactly exact. The 100 mg capsules are more economical.

This is too high a dose even for an adult who weighs 500 lbs. You'd be better

off chelating on your own without this doctor.

I put it with some B vits and C in a little container, shake it

furiously for a while, then put it all on my capsulator machine and

turn it into as many capsules as I want. This works great if your

kiddo can take pills.

I have spent a lot of time to put powder into capsule as my son can swallow now

(I mixed the capsules with a little pear souce, he can swallow 2/3 capsules at

one time)

Ooh Anne, I remember coveting this one too for the same reason, until

my daughter surprised me with her ability to swallow horse pills. If

I weren't for all of the icky ingredients, I would also be really

interested in their flavoured capsules. Mmm, coffee flavour!

We don't use the flavored capsules, but I liked the idea of them for

color purposes. How nice it would be to be able to tell exactly what

was what easily! Especially at the beginning when I had to

recompound everything. Now we do horsepills when required, but the

ALA/DMSA mix fits nicely in the #3 caps, which are very easy to dose

at night. FWIW, my son would probably love the coffee flavor, since

he loves eating coffee beans....

I'm smacking myself for not getting this years ago. At the moment,

n is doing 25 mgs DMSA (vrp) and 35 mgs ALA (comes that size from

Doctor's Best) and not having to do any capsule-making is like being

on such a vacation!
