Guest guest
Hi , I ordered them both directly from the companies. I was told about them by a pretty well respected autism specialist. I got both at whole sale prices directly from the companies because I am a physician. I just did a google search and it looks like you can get them from http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/ (Unique E) or http://hmpscience.com/catalog.xsp (Ultrathione 500) but for more than I pay for the supplements. You can ask your general pediatrician or any physician you know (that won't charge extra) to order it for you directly from the companies http://www.acgraceco.com (Unique E) or http://hmpscience.com/ (Ultrathione 500). I think if you call up the companies and find out how to get your doctor registered then it shouldn't take more than 5 min for him/her to get registered and get the whole-sale discount. Supplements cost so much (and maybe I'm wrong) but I think that everyone should get them at whole sale prices. The MTP promoter II we get from Dr. Marks in San Hellena, CA. It's a proprietary blend of amino acids and selenium from the Pfeiffer Institute. I think Andy Cutler believes that MTP promoter is just a temporary bandaid. I don't feel the same. We are trying to do everything all at once to help my daughter e.g. chelation, HBOT, supplements, MTP, B-12 shots, homeopathy, SCD. Unfortunately, MTP promoter II wasn't the magic pill we had hoped but it has helped her a lot. Her metallothinein level was 2 (almost non-existent) and just by using the promoter it went to 8. We're going to retest soon and I hope with everything else we're doing it should be much higher. Sheri Message 23 From: " mariapetsos " ionikos@... Guest guest
Sure: Here is a study where the authors of the study concluded " Dietary glutathione is nor a major determinant of circulating flutathione and it is not feasible to increase circulating glutathione to a clinically beneficial extent by oral administration. " Witschi A, et al., The systematic availability of oral glutathione. Eur J Clin Pharmacol 43, 639-642, 1992. And here is a study where they found the average red blood cell glutathione concentration rose nearly 50 percent with 500 milligrams of Vitamin C per day. ston CJ, Meyer CG, and Srilakshmi JC, Vitamin C elevates red blood cell glutathione in healthy adults. Am J Clin Nutri 58, 103-105, 1993. Both of these studies are cited in T Murray, N.D. " Encyclopedia of Nutritional Supplements " Ultrathione 500 and Unique E > > Sheri, > Where can you get Unique E? Guest guest
Here's one where glutathione is well absorbed if you take more than 50mg a day. Guest guest
Yes, Mark is so much better at this, he has the same study replicated in 2003 saying oral glutathione is not effective in raising the glutathione levels in the body, but Vitamin C is. Guest guest
Was this study done on healthy individuls or kids with autism and with bad guts? I'm really not tying to be a pain in the ass, Vitamin C is superb. I take at least 2 grams daily myself. I just have a problem with a blanket statements saying " If you take this or do that you will get this result " So much depends on the indivuals make up. It would be like me saying since I have been added 2 cups of oatmeal a day to my diet my cholesteral has gone from 230 to 170 so if YOU eat 2 cups of oatmeal a day it will rid you of all your high cholesteral woes. As we all know it just doesn't work that way. Guest guest
My brother is a renowned researcher in the field and he showed me a number of powerful studies confirming vitamin C's ability to boost glutathione levels. Still, if you read the research link, it doesn't just mention vitamin C. You need to make sure there are adequate supplies of the amino acids necessary to create glutathione as well as B6, selenium, riboflavin and other nutrients. Guest guest
My son doctor has her patients do a genetic detox profile and surprisingly my sons glutathione conjugation genes in the location liver kidney were NULL meaning nonexistent. Our doctor said that she see this type mutation (NULL or one or two genes carrying variation) way too often in ASD kids so, for some people, C, Amino acid and other antioxidants and Bs aren't just enough. We give A, Bs, C, E and custom amino acids and bunch of other things but had to add about 600 mg of transermal glutathione (divided to 3 doses per day) and are seeing the glutathione level increase. Neither of us at home tolerate the oral liquid stuff, so, I do wonder if it is possible to just open capsules and mix the powder with oil and make the transdemal for the whole family as I suspect that my husband and I are not major glutathione producers either. My son's is compounded in a local pharmacy so I don't think it should be that hard to make my own. Any thought on that? Guest guest
Again, where the studies done on ASD kids with impaired methylation cycles and bad guts due to toxic insult? Probabaly not. I think for lot of these kids giving them a supplements and having it get converted into something else is difficult for them but I'm sure it helps for some of them. Guest guest
Well, if they can't covert Vitamin C, which is easily absorbed they most likely will not absorb glutathione, which lots of studies say, does not absorb. Still, best bet is Vitamin C, amino acids, selenium. Ultrathione 500 and Unique E > > > > > > Sheri, > > > Where can you get Unique E? Guest guest
That is why you test them to see what pathways are disarrayed and fix it. Guest guest
Exactly right. Which is why a blanket statement of ingesting Vitamin C will raise glutathione levels is not correct. > > > > > > > > A much cheaper, easier way to raise glutathione levels is to > > just > > > give Vitamin C, which has shown to be superior to any > > glutathione > > > supplementation. > > > > > > > > > > > > Ultrathione 500 and Unique E > > > > > > > > Sheri, > > > > Where can you get Unique E? Guest guest
What we CAN reasonably ascertain from the studies done is that oral glutathione is not useful in raising glutathione levels, which was the original post/question. If you want to test the individual child, that is another matter, but what does raise glutathione for the majority is Vitamin C, and/or other nutrients. Guest guest
Another interesting study in this book, although just one case, N=1, involving a 45 month old girl who was born with an inherited deficiency of glutathione synthesis. Don't suppose she was too healthy as most subjects of studies involving glutathione. They tried both NAC and Vitamin C and found that for her, Vitamin C at 3 grams was successful in increased white blood cell glutathione (GSH) levels, fourfold and plasma GSH levels, eightfold. Guest guest
Like Mark S said if you haven't already you could have some tests ran to identify what pathways need help. You child may not have a low sulfer probelm and may not even need to raise the glutathione. I've read where Andy discourages using Glut if sulfer levels are normal particularly if chelating with ALA since ALA will raise glut levels on it own. Someone correct me if I'm woring here. Below is a list of other things that will raise glutathione levels. Does your child like milk shakes? You can buy some tasty EAS whey protein powder and make delicoius shakes. Lots of recipes availble online. Some researchers believe that supplements other than oral glutathione may be more effective in raising blood levels of glutathione. For example, in one trial, blood glutathione levels rose nearly 50% in healthy people taking 500 mg of vitamin C per day for only two weeks.10 Vitamin C raises glutathione by helping the body manufacture it. In addition to vitamin C, other nutritional compounds that may, according to preliminary research, help increase glutathione levels include alpha lipoic acid,11 glutamine,12 methionine,13 S-adenosyl methionine (SAMe),14 and whey protein.15 Vitamin B6, riboflavin, and selenium are required in the manufacture of glutathione. The extent to which any of these nutrients effectively increases glutathione levels in humans remains unclear. > > > > > > > > > > > > A much cheaper, easier way to raise glutathione levels > is > > to > > > > just > > > > > give Vitamin C, which has shown to be superior to any > > > > glutathione > > > > > supplementation. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Ultrathione 500 and Unique E > > > > > > > > > > > > Sheri, > > > > > > Where can you get Unique E? Guest guest
, same here. We are about done with a first bottle of the liposome glut and the improvements we saw are now gone. Guest guest
Sorry, I didn't read the entire thread - my son has been sick and haven't been holding him most of the last few days. DAN said both my kids showed low GSH despite lipo GSH and TD-GSH supplements. I believe that info came from an OAT test. My kids are SCD/LOD and diary free.
