Guest guest
Hi Dana, Thanks for your input very much. I don't quite know what deficiency signs fro calcium would present like - I did receive a suggestion that perhaps eye-gouging and chin-pushing behaviors may be calcium deficiency related? I have been seeing these behaviors lately (past two months) increasingly, which is when we started chelating with td dmsa. He does have issues at times with taking his supplements. At times, they contain calcium in higher doses, so I don't know. What would be a good test for assessing nutritional levels? I was recommended to do Spectracell, and still working to get my son in to a hospital lab that is kid friendly and would restrain him if needed. Do you know of any other tests that I could request, that would be comparable to Spectracell? This test will provide information that is complete, on long term nutritional status on the cellular level, not a snapshot only. I hope to get him in for this within two weeks. So, what would be the behaviors/signs of calcium toxicity, or deficiency, in your experience? TIA danasview <danasview@...> wrote: > Hi , > I just looked over your supp list, and I think a big part of the > problem may be the amount of calcium Even is getting. My kids were calcium toxic, despite 2 years of cf without supplementation, and one of them would refuse supplements if he realized they were making him feel bad. If your child specifically does not like taking calcium, you might want to have him tested for calcium levels. Also, is he showing any signs of calcium deficiency? Guest guest
We've used the Wateroz products for a couple of years now. I was very resistant with the 'looks like water; must be water' snake oil mentality. However, I like them immensely! They are easy to dose- taste like water, can be put in almost anything as well as taken plain. http://www.kornax.com/Liquid_Calcium_Water.htm will give you a mg idea. We have just used the recommended dosage for adult[120#er], which is NOT based on the mg table but on their recommendation of dosage i.e. usually 1/2 - 1 tsp. Currently just using the Ca and Mg extra strength[you don't need as much volume with it] and lithium. Some of them taste disgusting to me-supposedly a tip that one's body does not need that particular mineral. A friend uses the zinc routinely. It is the only form that seems to benefit her child. > > You know what, ? I don't know either. Guest guest
Trish, and eevryone, FYI - I went to Lee Silsby a month ago and they make a calcium lotion also, but it's expensive $38 a month supply. I am thinking about it being prescribed in case my son turns to be low despite oral supplementation, that way it may be covered by my insurance. Also, thanks for the good emails - I am behind a bit reading and responding as the little guy has been home keeping us busy - he is talking more and more every day! Now he has a new way to protest he actually says now " no-no-no-no-no.... " instead of just shaking his head. We are delighted! Have a good 4th, everyone. Trish <minniemimi1@...> wrote: Hi Barb, I just posted this, but in case you missed it, I'll post again. I get my Magnesium Sulfate Cream from Kirkman's Lab. It comes in a 24 oz jar. It contains 100mg mag per gram It can be applied 3-4 xs/day. We apply it between the shoulder blades, although it really can be applied anywhere. We apply it before showers (when he doesn't get an Epsom Salt bath), before swimming and whenever he seems extra hyper, or if we are taking him out when he needs to be calm. It is $18.50 a jar and lasts a long time. Our DAN! told us about this. They also make a zinc cream, which we use in addition to the zinc we put in a bottle of water (we call it pop water). My gds likes it, but doesn't always finish it. The td helps us to be sure he's geyying enough. Hope this helps! -Trish > > > > Hi , > > This is what I'm looking for...it's all so confusing.
