Thanks for the reply Sheila,

I have been following a treatment protocal from Dr p and am now also

under an endrocrinologist who has prescribed me one and a half of

armour. I picked these up from the chemist the other day but have been

reluctant to start them as they are in one dose and I had started to

feel some of the symptoms described in my last mail so I had continued

with nature throid.

I have had the adrenal stress profile done and my adrenal reserves are

not exhauseted but low and need support. I have not been able to talk

to dr p to ask him whether this support can come in the form of nax or

whether it needs to be something stronger as he didn't specify on the

letter. I have discovered that I am only able to take two nax a day

before I get an upset stomach so I think maybe I should try nae on my

next order? What do you think? I think I will have to ring him

tomorrow to ask his advice as well.

My candida test showed that the anitbodies IgA were positive and need

to be treated. I have been scared to do this as I had felt so well and

it was the first time in such a long time that I had felt like this.

The results came back when I felt well and so I didn't want to rock

the boat so to speak.

I haven't had a thyroid function test since the beginning of december

- this was before I started the treatment protocal. I also haven't had

any tests done for B12, Vitamin D, ferritin (stored iron), magnesium,

zinc or copper. I guess I will need to get them done...

I feel a little disappointed with myself and now have to go back to

the start, at least I can see what it is to feel 'normal' again..

Thanks for the advice .. I do feel slightly better today but can still

feel the presense of what I was talking about...

I'll let you know how I get on...Thanks again

Hi Dawn,

Thanks for posting - I have been on thyroxine for 14 years with

various side effects and ill health. Before christmas had my second

miscarriage which prompted me to see dr p. Since xmas I have been

following his treatment protocal and started to feel amazing -

'normal' about two weeks ago. Just this last week acouple of days have

not been so good as described - yesterday I felt rotton.

My heart rate has been low for a long time - although on the days when

I felt good it had crept up to 65 - 75 on one day which was really

reassuring.

My adrenal test showed that although not exhauseted they are quite low

and need help - I have been using nax - guess I need to ask if I need

somehting stronger?

I have I think over done things as I was feeling so wonderful, It is

also the first day of my period, which amazingly I didn't have the

usual ravaging pmt, instead I had the symnptoms of what seems like too

much thyroid hormone....low adrenals? Low progesterone..? Oh yeah my

candida was also positive.... not sure about the others though - will

have to get them tested...

What do you think..? Thanks again emily x

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the info and advice. Do you think I could have over done it

and in doing so worn out my adrenals..? Is that what happens? I did

have lots of energy and felt so good I just kept on, is this an

internal or external thing? It feels hard to take things easy when you

have so much energy, doesn't it? Also I don't think I can cope with

alcohol at all any more (great).

You advise taking the B vitamins to help, is there enough inside NAX

and NAE or do you think more need to be added in?

thanks again emily

, Thank you for letting me know you are sometimes the same, dr p

said my adrenal reserve was low and needed support. I have been

taking nax but can't cope with more than 2 a day - I get an upset

tummy, my next question for him is whether I need something more ...

are you well now - how do you dose?

Thanks emily x

Hi ,

Finding out what is possible, gets you motivated to improve.

Judging the 'range' of possibilities is more difficult.

Be a little cautious that you have enough 'kit' on board to sustain

your adventurous new life-style.

NAX or NAE ought to be able to keep some of the 'kit' going, but if

not, then a more realistic course is to replace some of the cortisol

effects by one or other supplement (isocort/hydrocortisone)

preferably and advisedly with medical support.

The adrenaline rush whilst enjoying yourself is very worthwile if

your cortisol production is up to it, but otherwise, can crash your

system ( the following day ~ as experinced ).

I don't know if the NAX or NAE will be enough for yourself. I only

use brewer's yeast (and now with folic acid and vit B12), but

that's 'essential' for me.....and I don't have a formally diagnosed

thyroid problem ~ as yet.

A very small amount of alcohol can help relax, but each to her/his

own.

best wishes

Bob

Thanks Bob, I think I feel a little like I'm back at the start - but

of course I am not as I know more than I did 2 months ago, I just need

to revisit a few things and take it a bit easier... (damn it!) thanks

for putting into context and explaining things

HI

I have been following a treatment protocal from Dr p and am now also

under an endocrinologist who has prescribed me one and a half of

armour. I picked these up from the chemist the other day but have been

reluctant to start them as they are in one dose and I had started to

feel some of the symptoms described in my last mail so I had continued

with nature throid.

Some

people do feel that Armour is more potent than the Nutri Throid. I think once

your adrenals have been supported, as you are getting Armour now on the NHS, I

would start Armour by splitting the dose. You can take half your dose about an

hour before breakfast and the other half around the middle of the afternoon.

This ensures you do not get too much T3 all at once. The tablets are easy to

cut in half if you need to do this - and it doesn't matter if the halves are

not quite accurate as we put out different levels of thyroid hormones

throughout the day.

I have had the adrenal stress profile done and my

adrenal reserves are

not exhauseted but low and need support.

I

would buy the Nutri Adrenal Extra (you can get these cheapest at www.yournutritionshop.co.uk )

Start by stopping your thyroid hormone replacement for a week. The first day

you stop, take one NAE with your breakfast and stay on that for 4 or 5 days.

Then add another NAE with your lunch. After a couple of weeks you can add

another NAE but take this dose with your breakfast and never take any after

1.00p.m. because the extra adrenaline might keep you awake. Start your Armour

on the 8th day and split the dose. Never take any thyroid hormones anywhere

near calcium and iron - take these at least 3 to 4 hours away.

My candida test showed that the anitbodies IgA were

positive and need

to be treated. I have been scared to do this as I had felt so well and

it was the first time in such a long time that I had felt like this.

The results came back when I felt well and so I didn't want to rock

the boat so to speak.

Try

the bicarbonate of soda treatment. This is cheap and apparently some members

have reported this to be very effective. You take one flat teaspoon of

bicarbonate soda in warm water when you get up for 4 weeks and then you stop it

for 2 weeks before starting again. If you find you have loose stools with this

amount, then simply lower the dose. If you have been given an exemption

certificate for being hypothyroid, then go to your local chemist and take this

with you, together with your medical card. You can get Fluconozole tablets free

of charge. Some give you two tablets, most give you one, so for the 3 tablets

required (you take one a week)- you might need to go to different pharmacies -

though this may not be the case.

I haven't had a thyroid function test since the

beginning of december

- this was before I started the treatment protocal. I also haven't had

any tests done for B12, Vitamin D, ferritin (stored iron), magnesium,

zinc or copper. I guess I will need to get them done...

make

an appointment with your GP and request that these be tested as they are

essential for sufferers of hypothyroidism.

Luv -

Sheila

....

I'll let you know how I get on...Thanks again

Thanks Leah, It s so comforting that you/ others have the same

experience...it seems strange doesn't it..? When you start to feel

hyper and rough do you get chest pains and breathlessness?

thanks emily
