Guest guest
OH MY GOODNESS YES!!! Sometimes when I am tired, I get this weird type of tinnitus (I always have some kind of tinnitus) where it sounds like a low, hollow humming. For me that means time to space out!! Sometimes my hormones will affect my hearing with the implant, or alcohol, or who knows what else. I find that I am more sensitivie to changes in my hearing with the implant than when I had normal hearing. Eh, ya live with it. Guest guest
Sometimes when I get my humming, it gets exacerbated by having the implant on. It's annoying, isn't it?! I know that mine is nothing serious and I hope it is the same for you. Guest guest
, That could be the heater going on, with the air blowing through the vents. Try turning it off at the thermostat and coming back to the vent where you feel the warm air coming up through the vents (or not), and that is probably the source of the noise. You live in a very cold area, so that's the first thought that comes to mind. I hear the noise of the air being blown from the heater in the basement into my living room. Guest guest
The heating ducts in my home are near the floor, but I'm not sure that's what I'm hearing. No matter what sound I hear (whether it be the TV or music), it constantly alternates between loud and soft, soft and loud. Later this evening I started hearing an annoying humming sound in addition to fading voices. The humming changes from being very loud to moderately loud. I have a headache and nausea now because of it, so have decided to leave my processor off for the night. Hopefully things will improve tomorrow... Guest guest
, I'm trusting that your switches are all in the right place? Telecoil can cause a buzzing even if you are midway between the two settings and whisper can also cause changes of pick up sounds you may or may not want. Even though you are only working with one program you still may have your setting on the wrong program (one or two). I noticed after my second map that sounds seemed to go in and out especially late in the day when I was more tired. When I got up the next morning and started out new after the processor had been in the dry & store overnight and I was rested, everything seemed to be working fine again. If you are stuffed up as with a cold or if you are in especially cold temperatures, or even around static electricity, those things can affect the workings of the processor. This is at least what I have found with mine. In regard to the beeps the processor makes when the batteries are going out, I often think those beeps are my partners cell phone ringing.. or a phone on the TV.. but then I suddenly lose my hearing and I realize that what I heard were the beeps in the processor. I don't know if any of this will help you but with all of us brainstorming maybe something will be applicable or make sense. I hope things smooth out for you tomorrow.. Guest guest
Yes, you're right, Lee.. at first, a month ago, I didn't realize what the beeps were.. but then started recognizing them. The other night though, my partner was on call and her cell phones and beeper kept going off so when the beeps chirped in my ear I just thought it was the on call beeper going off and even said to her " Hey you're being paged " .. until everything went silent. Then I had to laugh. Pam Re: Worried... Guest guest
Thanks, Pam, Those were more good ideas. See – all the new users remember those sounds and how to work with them. How important you all are to the group! – you do need to check to make sure that the switch is not on T Coil or Whisper. Did the audiologist tell you how to do this? Guest guest
Pam and Sharon, I checked my 3G (which was originally set to Whisper) and after switching between the three settings, I found that the humming sounds different on M and W than it does on the T-coil. Having said that, I think I know what may be causing the humming -- traffic. While I can hear different pitches in the sound of car engines, it seems like the humming might be coming from cars or trucks that have a very low pitched engine. Since I'm not yet able to hear low frequencies, this might explain why I hear (and feel) the humming. I also noticed that when I'm listening to the TV or radio, the volume increases or decreases according to the intensity of the hum. Voices continue to alternate from loud to soft, but I'm beginning to think this may be caused by the traffic I hear and feel (i.e. humming). I'm pleased to say that my nausea and migraine are now gone. Since this occurred late at night, I think this may have been a case of my brain being overstimulated. Just to be on the safe side I'm going to take Snoopy's and Robbi's advice and discuss this with my audiologist. If I continue to experience nausea and headaches, I may have to think about taking anti-nausea medication until it goes away. Thanks to all of you for your replies! Robbi and Snoopy, I do have some additional questions for you which I will send privately. Thanks again to Pat, Sharon, Alice and everyone who responded!! I was a little worried last night but feel so much better physically and mentally now that I know what may be causing this. Guest guest
Alice, I echo your sentiments about how valuable this list is! It's great having a wealth of experience to draw upon, especially for those of us who are new to CI's. It's such a relief knowing that no one here has forgotten what it's like to hear and discover new sounds for the first time. As many of you know, I'm on an e-mail list for those who wear hearing aids. Sometimes it's easy for me to get caught up in the technical jargon and to forget that there are list members who have no idea what I'm talking about. Guest guest
Sharon, It's amazing to hear traffic go by with the window closed! Now I know exactly what Joni means when she talked about being able to hear cars approach and drive away. I'm not so sure I'll like the sound of an ambulance or police vehicle going by -- I remember those sirens being very loud with hearing aids. LOL! Guest guest
, any chance that the CI is switched to the telecoil setting? That will pick up humming / buzzing from TVs, flourescent lights, PCs, in fact anything with a transformer or power supply in it. The noise intensity varies with how close you are to the source. When I use the telecoil on my CI I have to move around trying to find a " quiet zone " , away from the interference - shades of Maxwell Smart and the " Cone of Silence " New Zealand I - 16/11/04 A - 13/12/04 > Re: Worried... > > > > > > The heating ducts in my home are near the floor, but I'm not > sure that's > what I'm hearing. Guest guest
Hi , I can barely hear the buzzing sound of the T-coil and can't hear it immediately, so I appreciate your suggestion to check this setting. Thanks! The audi I worked with today confirmed that my 3G was set on Microphone -- not T-coil. I've had to do quite a bit of problem solving since getting my CI but it's getting better and better every day. The bright-red blood comes from a tear in the anus, usually from a too-big poop. Nell

For my son, this would have meant that at least one of the supplements was at too high of a dose. So the first week meant that his body was flushing the excess, the second week meant that he still needed the supplement, just not at that high of a dose. Because Brainchild is a mixture of many different supplements, it does make it difficult to determine which one/s might have been too high. You can certainly just reduce the entire dose, see if that helps. Or, check to see which individual nutrients are included at high doses [for example, B6]. Altho it would not really be possible to reduce just the B6 unless you started using another brand. Dana
Guest guest
Actually, depending on which of our supplements you're using, it may be possible to effectively reduce just the B6. The major difference between our varous Spectrum Support vitamin formulas is the level of B6. For example, the ONLY difference between Spectrum Support II with PAK and regular Spectrum Support II is that one has the P5P active form of B6, and the other has the Pyridoxine form. P5P is 4-5 times more " potent " than Pyridoxine - in other words 20 mg of P5P is equivalent to 80-100 mg of pyridoxine. Another clue can be often found by reducing the dose of one component, either just the vitamins or just the minerals, and see if things improve. If you give us a call, we'd be happy to help you figure out what was going on. We have talked with hundreds of parents like you, and can often point you in the right direction, based on what we've seen and heard with our own children and others, if you can tell us what you're seeing. Guest guest
Hi , I am no expert but what you describe is exactly what happened to me before Christmas. When I saw Dr. P he said mine was adrenal...I needed the Nature Throid but was needing to sort out my adrenals too. I am now on HC. At first I was told to up my NAX to 6 a day and take 10 NA too but it wasn't enough as I was still getting these symptoms you describe...a good couple of days then a really bad one. I'm not suggesting you need HC but it does sound adrenal to me. I do hope someone more knowledgeable can help you and also hope you feel better tomorrow. BP is 116 / 68 heart rate is 57. Guest guest
Hi First, are you self medicating or are you under the care of either an NHS or private doctor. When was the last time you had a thyroid function test and what did these tests show? First, stop taking the Nature Throid for 24 hours to get the excess T3 out of your system. You should feel the benefit in a few hours. It could be that you have an underlying condition which is stopping the thyroid hormones from being absorbed and you need to do a bit of investigation. First, go to our web site www.tpa-uk.org.uk and click on 'Hypothyroidism' and then click on 'Associated Conditions' and on the page that opens read about adrenal fatigue, candida, mercury poisoning caused through amalgam fillings, low B12, Vitamin D, ferritin (stored iron), magnesium, zinc or copper. The last 6 tests you could ask your GP to check out but you might need to get tested privately to see if you have low adrenal reserve and systemic candida. These can be tested through Genova Diagnostics www.gdx.uk.net . First, go to the FILES section on this forum (you will find this on the Home Page in the Menu) and scroll down until you find Adrenal Questionnaire and the Candida Questionnaire. Complete the questions and see how you score. If high, they you need to be tested to see exactly what is happening. Any of the above will needs to be treated before your thyroid replacement will work. Otherwise, you will continue to get the feelings of toxicity. We usually recommend taking natural thyroid extract about an hour before breakfast, and because of the short half life of T3, the rest of your dose in the middle of the afternoon. I think you need to get your dose stabilised by taking thyroid extract during the day, and once you have found the dose that makes you well, try taking it when you go to bed, but don't take it at night at the stage you are at right now. It does sound as if you are getting the symptoms of too much T3. Today, if this was my problem, I would take 1 Nutri Adrenal Extra with my breakfast and another with my lunch (don't take them after 1.00p.m.) and I would not take any Nature Throid at all. You should feel much better tomorrow - you could feel much better today. I would stop your thyroid extract for at least 7 days. Take your NAE as outlined above for 4 days and then try adding another NAE but take the extra tablet with your breakfast. So as not to rush things too quickly, After 7 days, reintroduce your 1 grain Nature Throid taking it in a split dose with 3 tablets of NAE for the next few days to make sure there is no risk. You should take your NAE with food. This way, you will boost your adrenals and hopefully, when you start NT again, you will not have these adverse effects. Luv - Sheila When I felt unwell in the week I noiticed that one really energetic almost manic day was followed by a huge slump the next. On the slump day I took 2 NAX which seemed to help me to get back on track.. But now I feel a bit too worried to take any thing... what should I do..? Any advice or recommendations greatly received. Thanks emily x
Guest guest
Hi , The manic feelings and the alternating energetic day then a slump the next are all too familiar to many on this forum. Remember (if possible) to pace yourself to allow for this pattern. (bit like advice for ME/CFS ??) Once you get your adrenals to work better with a decent supply of thyroid hormone, it will tend to balance out better but may not be perfect.... Of the B vitamins, vit B5 (pantothenic acid) is the one that your adrenals will scream out for, but try and keep as much in balance with the B vits as is possible, along with vit C for adrenal function. Improving adrenal performance is necessary for starting thyroid treatment, and failing adrenals will jeopardise being able to stabilise on any dose of thyroid hormone, of whatever kind or mix thereof. best wishes Bob > > Hi All, > > I have been taking nature throid for 4 weeks now.
