Guest guest
Sara, Call to see if the lab still has blood and can re-run the tests. As for the testosterone, I found this link the other day and think it is a wonderful reference guide: http://www.labcorp.com/pdf/Pediatric_Reference_Ranges_Endocrinology_0 981.pdf Anne > > Hi all, > > I am so frustrated, I could scream - I already have. Guest guest
I did this the first time when they ordered the wrong tests but they reordered the wrong one with the remaining blood!! I will check out the testosterone link. Thanks. > > > > Hi all, > > > > I am so frustrated, I could scream - I already have. Guest guest
Sorry, , are not the " free T3 " and are not useful. Wth? Is that a free T4 or a total T4 they did? Our ped tried to tell us they did not even have this test. We had to call the lab in person and when we asked if they did the free T3, they said " We sure do " . Hope you get this worked out. Guest guest
it is just plain T4! Dr. Megson wrote it exactly as I asked, the lab just messed up both times!! I don't think it could have been any more clear and I verified it just before the draw and again before the ran the second test. I am going to take him to another lab next time! Argghh!! > > > > > > Hi all, > > > > > > I am so frustrated, I could scream - I already have. I have > > been waiting for over a month to get Isaac's (3yrs,10mo) free T3 > and > > free T4 labs. Guest guest
Hi , I just got my own results and am looking to interpret them myself. I just found on a Dutch website that T7 means that it is Free T4 corrected for medication use like contraceptives, and other hormones. Guest guest
Okay, since we are going to be running these again. I have requested " free T3 " I still have the TSH from last month, do I need this again? Do I need " free T4? " or is " free T3 " enough. Basically, please tell me exactly what she needs to write get this done properly. The lab claims that it was because the panel didn't include what we wanted so I want it written out separately. Hope this makes sense. I feel like I have been on the phone too long over this!! Thanks. > > > > > > Hi all, > > > > > > I am so frustrated, I could scream - I already have. Guest guest
Why would they run that on a three year-old boy? Maybe that is why no rr was provided... So it is not the same as a " free T4 " because it is adjusted? > > Hi , > > I just got my own results and am looking to interpret them myself. > I just found on a Dutch website that T7 means that it is Free T4 > corrected for medication use like contraceptives, and other hormones. > > Nadia > > 2006/4/27, <curlytatertot@...>: > > Hi all, > > > > I am so frustrated, I could scream - I already have. Guest guest
T7 is an approximation of free T4 based on an estimate of available binding sites on the proteins that usually bind T3 and T4. There are many factors that can affect protein binding besides contraceptive use, so it is commonly used in aany age or sex. It has no units because it is a derived figure designed to alert the clinician to unusually large or small amounts of thyroid hormone binding sites. It is most useful in understanding the significance of a total T4 (or T3) that is out of the expected range. Guest guest
Hi! - You might want to go to NaturalThyroidHormones at groups dot com or check out www.stopthethyroidmadness.com For folks who are stuck with HMOs such as Kaiser, the test you want your doc to write in the lined space at the bottom of the lab slip is " FREE T3 NON-DIALYSIS PATIENT " The tests that you need are Free T3 Free T4 Thyroid Antibodies: TPOAb (Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies) TGAb (Thyroglobulin Antibodies) TSH (this is a pituitary hormone and is NOT very useful for diagnosis of low thyroid but it can give you information about the type of low thyroid in question) B12 ferritin It is also useful to get some idea of adrenal status but this can best be done with the ASI, or Adrenal Stress Index, which is a 4 x in one day saliva cortisol test. OR by taking temperatures according to the suggestions found on wwwdrrindcom <http://www.drrind.com> OR by doing a flashlight test of the ability of the iris to remain contracted as the beam of light is aimed from the side of the face toward the bridge of the nose. Healthy adrenals are able to hold the iris for a minute. Adrenal stress is evident if the iris pulses in less than a minute in an attempt to keep constricted. (MDiety fronts for the Pharmafia don't even know what the heck those flashlights are for, any more - nor their thermometers! They just think it's part of the ceremony of obeisance waiting to see them.) Of course you can look at the hair test for characteristic patterns that show adrenal stress a la Andy's Hair Test Interpretation. Or you can used the strangest method of all - observe symptoms and behavior. Tantrums and Meltdowns are very common features of adrenal stress. (I wonder if there really are mercury toxic folks who don't have a degree of adrenal stress?!) I can empathize with you . We've attempted to get a Free T3 on my DH 3 different times he's had labs over the last year. www.canaryclub.org has a good panel of thyroid, adrenal, and sex hormone testing which is slightly discounted when you join online and order the kit which you then send back with your check. (Unless you are in NY then you have to get creative.) Hope This Helps, .... On 4/27/06, Victor & <curlytatertot@...> wrote: > > Okay, since we are going to be running these again.
