Guest guest
, I'm sorry, but I really don't know exactly why ALA can cause spaciness when used without another chelator. We've never used it alone. If you put a question out to Nell or Anne or or , I'll bet one of them might know why this happens. I think that this is probably a side effect of how ALA can move mercury around, as people seem to find that they are better able to tolerate ALA-only rounds when they have already done a lot of chelation. Can you tell me why you can't use DMSA? There are a lot of supplements that can help with focus, but I must not be taking any of them right now, because I can't remember which ones they are. :-) Again, putting another question to the group like " Which Supplements Help With Focus? " should bring you a lot of useful replies. Sorry I'm not more help to you. HAving a pretty spacy day myself. What dose of ALA are you using, what is her weight, and are you dosing every 3 h? If side effects are more than you consider manageable, then the dose can be decreased. Often a small decrease of dose will give a big decrease of symptoms. I get spacey with stress, so I think it's an adrenal symptom. Be sure to give lots of water, B and C vitamins, some extra salt, consider adrenal cortex extract, and check the supplement file to see what other supplements are helpful with chelation. (Is it GABA that helps with concentration and focus??) J She started to > return more to normal after 18 hours. I found I was losing alot in the seperation of it so I put a smidget more in. On some doses she probably got 10 or 11. That is the most. Guest guest
, The dose might be too high, or it could just be that it's the first round. We had lethargy, spaciness and even a little bit of a low grade fever the first few rounds, all of which subsided within 5-6 rounds. Out of curiosity, why can't you use DMSA at this time? Many times we use DMSA alone for the last dose, referred to as a DMSA sweep. That seems to help a lot. Dana on this list chelated using only ALA I believe. You might want to ask her for some insight too. -------------- Original message -------------- From: " deltaskymiles2317 " <tracy@...> We did a round this weekend and my daughter was pretty spacey the last ofday of the round she could not focus at all. I'm so spacy most of the time that ALA doesn't really make it worse, lol. > I think > that this is probably a side effect of how ALA can move mercury > around, as people seem to find that they are better able to tolerate > ALA-only rounds when they have already done a lot of chelation. Maybe it's because only ALA is moving brain Hg, so that is causing a loss of focus? Just guessing. > There are a lot of supplements that can help with focus, but I must > not be taking any of them right now, because I can't remember which > ones they are. :-) LOL. Phosphatidylserine helps a lot, when I remember to take it, also lecithin if it's tolerated. Nell
Guest guest
Sounds like it might be yeast to me. ALA creates a good environment for yeast, which is many kids makes them " out there, " giggly, spacey, etc. Also, when my son got the yeast issues, he got a sinus-y thing going on. When I treated yeast, it finally went away. Barb [ ] Rene or anyone else who can help me re: use of ALA alone We did a round this weekend and my daughter was pretty spacey the last ofday of the round she could not focus at all. Guest guest
> > >Thanks for your response. I started the dose at 8 mg. she wieghs > 58lbs. Reducing the dose to 5 mg might help. 5 mg per dose is all I can take right now (large adult). I have a tendancy to go low on sodium. Salt helps me. One symptom of low sodium is 'confusion' (fits me, but I don't know if it fits your daughter's case). What supplements is she taking? J I had ready people use as much as 12.
