Guest guest
If you attended the ACIP meeting last week & have comments about it, please send them to me so I can share them. Thanks. Here is a link to a video clip of a parent denied access to Rep. Barton's office: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aa2-bFlASpo Apparently, other parents made threatening calls since Rep. Joe Barton deadlocked the Combating Autism Act in a House Committee, so we're all being labeled as violent. That really doesn't help. Please show respect for his position, even you don't respect him. Foul language & threats only slow our progress toward safer vaccines. Parents and their autistic children will be gathered at 11am in front of the Renaissance Hotel in , Texas, on Monday, Oct. 30, 2006. Families will call on Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-IL), and U.S. Rep.Joe Barton, (R-TX) to stop holding their children hostage to politics and let the House vote on the Combating Autism Act (passed as Senate Bill 843). Guest guest
Well, it appears that the same NPO zealots who knowingly and willingly forsook thimerosal and vaccine research in exchange for ONE BILLION DOLLAR'S worth of " whatever " are now into smearing an honest ally of our children. Let's make this crystal-clear, my family has spoken to Rep. Barton's staff personally and they are 1000% behind any legitimate effort to help our families. Rep. Barton fully understands what CAA is all about and we are grateful that he is, so far, willing to be attacked by these so called advocates making all these unfounded claims. Rep. Barton is being completely reasonable and we parents of vaccine-injured children should be 100% behind his efforts to stick up for our children. If you work the investigative angles you will find the ones supporting CAA will be the ones with direct political ties to the " preservative " republicans that have worked after midnight many times in the past to create bills designed to defeat us families, or they simply are ignorantly doing whatever their drug company minders are telling them to do. For the record in the CAA bill passed by the U.S. Senate there is absolutely NO MENTION of thimerosal or vaccine research. Not even anything remotely suggestive of thimerosal and vaccine research in the pending CAA legislation. In fact, the only hope we parents had for thimerosal and vaccine research was a CAA draft by groups including the anti-mercury ones called the revised consensus verison. This version was NEVER considered by the U.S. Senate because several powerful Senators and drug/vaccine manufacturer-run charities failed to support it. When it was clear the CAA would not represent the interests of us parents advocating for our children every self-respecting advocacy group representing our vaccine-injured children dropped support for CAA. The rest seem to be looking at CAA as a form of pay-off for all the past work they claim to have done on behalf of our children. The miss-guided groups that failed to walk away from CAA and put agressive pressure on to make sure the wrong version of CAA was Senate-ratified are attempting to save face with you, the parent of a vaccine-injured child, by pointing out that thimerosal and vaccine research is covered in CAA under a vague " enviromental " term tucked in the Frist-approved version. What they won't tell you is this version passed the empty Senate at mid-night under " adminstrative " conditions, and came complete with a strong-worded colloquy that clearly states the intentions of the Senate are that no thimerosal and vaccine research be conducted with CAA money and CDC is no longer required to do any epidemiological research on the autism epidemic from now on. In other words if the CAA passes it will take extremely distasteful legal action to counteract the Senate's version of CAA. This means years and years of legal battling by whoever can raise lots of money for the vaccine and thimerosal research legal battle sure to insue with the passage of this dangerous and most inappropriately represented bill.
