Guest guest
I just wanted to post our experience with Nasal B12, as it wasn't favorable and it was excruciating watching the regressions and not knowing what was happening. My son switched from shots (after a year, no wow's but lots of interventions including chelation..slow and steady gains) to nasal last Oct. Although we never saw one thing make the decline in skills, many changes to his protocol occured during a 6 mos. period and he lost almost a years worth of gains, including the only 5 words he used regularly. We decided to stop the nasal and go back to shots and got the words back almost instantly after 6 mos. of intense prompting and praying! We also got back appropriate toy play which has always been his downfall and was delightful to see return! This was all within 2 days of returning to the shots. We did do a test mid Feb. that showed him completely deficient of B12... even after months of 2 sprays a day of nasal b12 from Coastal. I love Stans list, and my son is a huge huge responder to valtrex, but just wanted to express our journey of nasal b12. Keep a watchful eye! and Ty/3.11 yrs -- In , vicki magee <vickila1@...> wrote: > > my mb12 nasal spray just arrived today from wellness. i am also on the mb12 valtrex list group. a good one like this group. we tried mb12 shots some time ago but met with severe aggression. trying again... > > vicki > > Pamela Leigh <pamelaleigh@...> wrote: > You may want to check out the group MB_12Valtrex. Are there people on that list who have the opposite experience -- shots didn't work but the nasal did? Do you know if the ingredients differ? Glad you worked your way out of the regression... Guest guest
Hi Nell, My son was a Nonresponder to the MB12 shots. We tried the MB12 nasal spray and he responded very well. We got a real pop in language. The director of his school asked if we could bathe him in it. Then, it stopped working. <SIGH> Pamela Mom to 6 yo tough nut " Courage is doing what you're afraid to do. Guest guest
did mb12 shots a while ago with horrible results. tried nasal yesterday. just one day and my son was attacking again like with the shots. every child is different. from what i have read, most children respond favorably to mb12 treatments. vicki lanellici <lanellici@...> wrote: > > I just wanted to post our experience with Nasal B12, as it wasn't > favorable and it was excruciating watching the regressions and not > knowing what was happening. Guest guest
Yes, Nell... My son lost that pop in language from the MB12 nasal spray. He went back to being completely nonverbal. Sometime our son is like Teflon... Nothing sticks. It seems he doesn't respond, he can't tolerate it or the gains don't stick. Heartbreaking. But the fact that it worked even temporarily seems quite hopeful to me, like you're going to hit on the magic combination eventually. Is this your first try with ALA? Guest guest
I have been reading over at Yasko's site, and scaring myself by understanding some of it. She has some interesting things to say about ammonia issues and methylation. She reports that if you add methylation supplements i.e. methyl B12, that it will cause any ammonia issues to surface and that uses up dopamine, which is used for speech. Probably this doesn't make too much sense to anyone but me, but thought I would throw it out there as it seems to fit this situation. Btw, I have no idea if she knows what she is talking about, but worth a try. [ ] Re: Nasal B12 > > Yes, Nell... My son lost that pop in language from the MB12 nasal spray. Guest guest
, So, what to do? Increase dopamine (BH4?) or drop ammonia (alphaketoglutaric acid) or neither or both? anne > > > > Yes, Nell... Guest guest
Increase things that decrease ammonia, alphaketoglutaric acid, L-citrulline, for about a month, then add back in the methylation things i.e. methyl B12, folic/folinic/folapro, and I suppose add in the BH4, but how much, they say, depends on the genetics, however, as with any other supplement I would start very slow and work up. Bh4 is said to regulate dopamine/norephinephrine levels. Scary that I understand this and the site is just awful, so scattered it is hard to get any information out of it, at all. When you do a search for information and pick something and then hit the back button the search engine times out and you have to retype your search topic again. Very difficult site. Guest guest
Yasko likes to do the urine amino acid test to determine if the ammonia and/or taurine is high. If so she recommends yucca, low protein diet, her ammonia rna, and charcoal/magnesium flushes until the ammonia and taurine are in the low range then add in 1/4 tablet of folapro and 1/4 tablet of intrinsic B12. This ammonia protocol is done regardless of genetics. > > > > > > Yes, Nell... My son lost that pop in language from the MB12 > nasal > > spray. Guest guest
I've gone through some of Yasko's sight, but I can't always make headway on the ammonia issue. Is there a specific place to look or can you break it down for me? I have believed for a while that my son has low dopamine (I tried the blinking test thing & he can hold his eyes open far longer than I can mine). Lately he has such alkaline urine & BMs which I have suspected as ammonia. My son's on the mB12 shots every 3 days. What will help to deal with ammonia (other than the $100/bottle drops that Yasko sells)? I just can't afford the prices on her stuff. My son has days where his speech is fantastic and everything " clicks " and other days where he won't/can't say a word. Most days are somewhere in between. I've been trying to increase the acidifying foods because of his alkalinity, and it helps some, but I wonder if there isn't something that can deal with the ammonia more specifically. Thanks for any advice you can give (mom to Caleb) > > > > Yes, Nell... My son lost that pop in language from the MB12 nasal > spray. He > > went back to being completely nonverbal. > > Heartbreaking. Guest guest
> > Our prescription bottle says MB12 12.5 mg/FA 3 mg/ml. > So you are giving 12.5mg mB12 and 3mg folic. Is that per dose? That sure seems like a LOT of mB12 [my son never tolerated much more than 2.5mg] but I have given quite a bit more folic acid. Even now, my son does well with 1mg mB12 daily but requires 5mg folic with it. Dana
