I've heard from some that a child sweats out metals. From others I heard that

metals are excreted into a childs hair -- both cause a smell.

Sorry to hear of the smell but I think its better that the junk comes out --

as long as he gets better.

Whatever it is he probably needs to drink more water. Does it smell like

gunpowder? I have had a gunpowder smell when chelating. I assumed it was toxic

metals exiting my body. I don't know where you live (northern hemisphere?), but

it could be that his ability to sweat has improved and now that it's getting

hotter he's sweating more?

Maybe I'll try that. We decided to quit chelating to see if

anything happens. We just haven't gotten much of a result from it

and my son keeps declining. I'll have to see if he starts smelling

better now.

I can attest to that , now when I sweat holy cow...

It seems to be a sulphery or skunky odor. Since I am not using any

chelators yet, only natural detox at this time, it must be metals.

We are using TD-DMPS. We are dosing every other day but have also

tried months of doing it every 8 hours per Andy's Protocol and saw

no results that way either.

Have you ever tried ALA every 3 hours?

Colleen,

So many posts, forgive me if I am wrong, but didn't you post awhile back that

you tried Ala on an 8 hour protocol and got some regression? Sorry if I have you

confused with someone else.

I put the dosing in the previous post but his symptoms are just a

general non-improvement of any speech or anything, he smells, and he

is stimming like crazy (tapping every object in the house all day

and putting items in the house into collections). He has been a lot

grouchier than usual too. Whining a lot and also if he asks for

something and doesn't get it he keeps asking over and over again

without stopping. He isn't having any physical symptoms other than

smelling badly. His poops are still normal and he isn't complaining

of any pain (though he never has in his life). He takes brainchild

vitamins and minerals, GSE, and Nordic Naturals Omega 369.

I haven't tried ALA because the pharmacist told me not to start ALA

until you have been on the td-dmps for at least 6 months or it can be

dangerous. Also, I haven't had any labwork done other than one blood

test so I don't know if any metals have come out or not.

Just sharing our experience...we haven't had any lab work done either, but I can

see

improvements in my 2 NT kids and I feel improvements in myself.

We started with oral DMSA, Andy's protocol, every 4 hours, 3 days on/4 off,

Andy's

recommended supplements, etc. After 3 months (post amalgam removal), we started

ALA.

That has been going very well.

I hope you'll consider listing the supplements your son is taking for listmates

to review,

and consider doing ALA to remove metals from the brain.

Did he decline on AC's protocol too? Have you tried ALA? Andy says ALA

is the workhorse chelator because it's the only one getting Hg out of

the brain. Not aure if you're asking for advice -- but I'd consider

dropping the DMPS altogether given his history with it, and trying ALA

every 3 hrs.

This is only true if there has been a recent exposure to Hg, such as

getting amalgams removed or a flu shot. The idea is that if the

exposure was 3 months or less there's free-floating Hg in the blood

that could potentially get moved into the brain by ALA. No recent

exposure, no problem, because the Hg is either already in the brain

or stuck in the tissues and organs.

The best way to tell if it's working is observation of the child,

although it's true that some things can mask improvement, like yeast.

Did you do a DDI hair elements test and apply counting rules? What metals are

Thanks for the advice. You don't think it would be dangerous

without knowing how much metals are still in there? How much should

I give a child who is 37 pounds and 4? I don't even know what

exactly to buy I'm so clueless.

We did the hair test a year ago and are dealing with Aluminum,

arsenic, antimony, and tin. We did do the counting rule and that's

why we decided to chelate. (there was one more metal but i can't

remember what it was and we are moving in 4 days so the info is

packed away...i know it wasn't lead or anything really common)

ALA chelates arsenic, SAMe helps get rid of antimony (you have to supplement B

vitamins and folic acid to keep homocysteine in check), apple pectin helps deal

with aluminum, and tin usually goes down when you deal with the others and

remove sources of exposure. Doesn't look like anythiing here is likely to be

chelated by DMPS...IMO.

Good recommendations, but be careful with the SamE, most of our kids don't

do very well with it. Better to try DMG first, then DMG with folic acid,

then TMG. These do the same things as SamE, but are better tolerated by our

kids.
