Perhaps some good probiotics might help...

Good luck~

New Behaviors Since Antibiotics-Help!

Hi,

My child has been exhibiting some new behaviors since the time he was on

antibiotics about a month ago-

He is stimmy (like never before): rolls on the ground, touches textures,

flails his arms a lot, flaps, pushes against surfaces, seeks pressure, puts

things in his mouth. They go up and down and keep coming back in full

strength when I think they are fading.

I am using yeast medicine- Candex, 1/2 capsule/day. We are on GFCF. I'm also

mid-way in indroducing enzymes so some contribution may be from that.

Any insight as to what is going on? Severe gut imbalance? What should I do

to help him?

We could focus and do a lot of stuff until recently. Now it is such a

struggle. I keep feeling that there are foods he can't tolerate (despite the

90 IgE testing). He has faint dark circles under his eyes but sleeps well,

through the night and has a nap.

Thanks a lot,

Just my 2 cents, but I would really up the yeast protocol. 1/2 candex

will not do it most likely. Whenever my daughter has to take

antibiotics, I double her probiotics during the entire time she is on

the antibiotic. She was even on one last wek for an ear infection,

and I doubled the probiotic, and we saw no problems. We have had the

same problems you are seeing in the past, and it has always turned

out to be yeast caused by the fact that the antibiotic kills both go

and bad bacteris.--Tod

Look for a dairy-free probiotic.

S S

I will be retrying probiotics later this week. The results of a GI panel
should come in tomorrow. Hopefully I will have a better idea of the trace
minerals needed.

We aren't chelating yet, still fixing the gut. Is the hand
stimming/flailing, finicky hands and fingers an outward symbol of bacteria
toxins (he has parasites) or/and heavy metals?

I'm curious about one thing- the dark circles have appeared only after we
started the CF diet followed by GF. They weren't there before. Does it mean
new sensitivities or sensitivities that were latent before are in the
forefront?

Thank you very much,
Thank you, , and Tod.

Tod, will 1 capsule/day of Candex be a good start? My son weighs 37 lbs.

I hope to start probiotics this week.

Yes, that would be a good start, but you definitely need to start the

probiotics as well. Candex is just an enzyme that will eat the cell

wal of the yeast, but it will not poplulate the gut with the good

bacteria needed to balance things.--Tod

Thank you all very much for the responses. We are still struggling with the

new behaviours but I have a better idea. GI testing showed yeast and

pathogenic bacteria along with super low sIGA (mucous is dry).

-He needs enzymes which I am using (Houston and Enzymedica)

-Getting started on Probiotics (Klaire brand)

-I have increased Candex but I don't think it is helping. This afternoon he

was still being silly and laughing. Any other suggestions?

- I will be using some stuff (NAG- N-acetyl glucosamine and Carnosine-Zinc)

at the suggestion of the nutritionist to heal the mucuous layer. Has anyone

experience with this?

Thank you,

Hello - For low secretory sigA we used Kirkmans colostrum (it is suppose to be

casein free). A CDSA will show you what susceptibilities any of the

bacteria/yeast have - and then you can choose whether it be precriptive agents

or natural agents. Alkaselter GOLD ( a bi-carbonate) will help neautralize the

toxins and help the probiotics survive. A pre-biotic such as FOS powder will

also help the probiotics survive the journey and repopulate.

Best of luck!

Thank you . I will look into the colostrum. I didn't know a CDSA can

show which medicines may be effective, alas we did another test that did not

give that information.

How should I time the AK Gold with the probiotics? Do you have a preferred

vendor for the FOS powder?

Sorry about all the questions,

Hi -

We use Nutra Flora FOS from Now. We give the alkaselter GOLD one hour before

he eats (half a tab). We also give ButyrEn™ (butyric acid) by Allergy Research

Group/Nutricology, Inc it is a short-chain, fatty-acid, dietary supplement in

the form of an enteric-coated formulation of calcium and magnesium salts of

butyric acid (2 tablets crushed, 2x daily, mixed in food). It supports the

integrity of colonic mucosa by acting as primary fuel for the colonic

epithelium. It is normally produced by colonic bacteria,

Best of luck!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck with your new protocol, Wanda. Please try probiotics as others

have mentioned earlier in this chain. We just started with them,

___,,,^.~.^,,,___ What kind of antibiotic was it, ?

--------------------Was it a quinolone

class?-------------------------------

Quinolones (according to the pharmacy drug interaction insert sheet) will

" form stable coordination compounds " with any divalent metallic cations.

In some sources I have found these compounds referred to as chelates,

but the antibiotic contains no sulfhydryl groups. The sources say that

it is the bacterio-active aryl group which binds the metals. I don't know

if this is a correct usage of the term " chelate, " and I don't know how

strong or persistent the compounds are. Perhaps they just mobilize

and redistribute the metals. Although I have found no research reports

studying the quinolones' interaction with mercuric ions and no word

of any warning about this, I think it is wise to consider any suspicion

of mercury intoxication as a contraindication for quinolones.

Stick to third generation macrolides (mycins) or cephalosporins unless

you're dealing with anthrax, staph, or some other resistant superbug.

And, oh yes, quinolones DO cross the BBB to some extent according

to the research papers I've been able to find.

Hello there, (CAT :)

The antibiotic was Omnicef (tradename). I don't think it was a quinolone but

am not enough of a chemist to say that.

http://www.rxabbott.com/pdf/omnicef.PDF

Would you be able to take a look and confirm? If it is a quinolone and can

redistribute metals, the scenario is scary.

Thank you,

How's his diet? Is he eating carbs and sugars? They feed the yeast.

We are GFCFSFCornF, preservative and food color free, all organic, sugar

free except for honey and fruits. He does eat crbohydrates with enzymes. I

need to look beyond Candex and oregano oil, looks like we are not making a

dent in the yeast.

Hi there!

Thanks for the details. They are helpful.

I think I have seen Andy post recently (less than a month ago) on a regular

basis, if I am not mistaken.
