Guest guest
Kirkmans probiotics are all casein free. We've used Pro Bio Defense, Pro Bio Gold, and Super Pro Bio with no problems. Guest guest
We use American Health banana wafers which we buy at Whole Foods. They also make blueberry ones. We haven't tried those. I'm a fan of Thorne's SF722, which is a castor oil derivative, also caprylic acid works well for some people. Nell

Guest guest
Can you tell me how you would choose between these? > Does anyone have a > > recommendation for well-tolerated casein-free probiotic? > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Castor oil derived might just work! At least I have no knowledge that he for sure reacts to it. Caprylic acid I just looked up on Wikipedia - " an oily liquid with a slightly unpleasant rancid taste. " Yum. Can you tell me how you dose these? Also GSE, can anyone tell me how to use it? I picked up a bottle today and realized I have no idea how to administer the stuff. Thanks for the help. > > > > I am also mustering my courage to try GSE. Guest guest
Pro Bio Gold is a multi-strain probiotic with I think about 20-30 billion CFU's per capsule. It's been around a long time and a lot of people have found it helpful. Pro Bio Defense is a similar product with some Saccharomyces Boulardii in it too. S. Boulardii is a non- colonizing yeast that is very effective against candida. Super Pro Bio is another multi-strain probiotic but the CFU's are a lot higher - 75 billion. A pretty hefty number. There are a lot of other good probiotics out there, but I know that all of Kirkman's will be casein free. take care René > > > > Kirkmans probiotics are all casein free. Guest guest
How about acerola powder (I believe acerola is a kind of cherry, not sure) or rosehips? These are both very rich in vitamin C. Now Foods has an acerola powder. René > > Thanks Leigh. I should have said this in the first place - he can't > handle corn, tapioca/cassava, palm or potato. Guest guest
Hi I was reading a book in nutrition and found out that the big red sweet pepper and its big green pepper has 4 times more vitamin C than citrus fruits,Does your child tolerate them. Guest guest
Well, it was a GREAT idea. Acerola is one of the exotic fruits I was talking about. I looked up the Now Foods acerola and it contains maltodextrin, a corn derivative, and there are few things I can give him that he reacts to more strongly than corn. I don't know if you can get rosehips by itself, it is in the citrus based C I ordered. I'll look around for that. Thanks, Rene. > > > > Thanks Leigh. Guest guest
Well, it's worth a try - not a food he much cares for, but I'll add it to the High C list. Here is the top of my list, again from our friends at Wikipedia. Goat Plum (which I believe is also called Kakudu) 3150 mg/100grams of fruit Camu Camu 2800mg/100gm Wolfberry 2500mg/100gm Rose hip 2000 Acerola 1600 Amla 720 Seabuckthorn 600 Jujube 500 (aren't those movie theater candies?) But where do you get these things?? ,? > > > > We are starting our 4th round of ALA - still looks great, but I am > > increasingly anxious about our lack of supplements. Guest guest
Oh, shoot! I forgot about the maltodextrin. Well, how about this one? http://www.drrons.com/pure-radiance-c.htm *I did read that acerola may not work for people allergic to latex. Another alternative from the other end of the spectrum might be going with ascorbyl palmitate, which is a completely synthetic, fat-soluble C. http://www.lef.org/newshop/items/item00083.html I don't have any experience with this form of C at all, but you could look in the archives (onibasu) and see if there are any good reports. LEF is a good supplement brand. best wishes René > > > > > > Thanks Leigh. I should have said this in the first place - he > can't > > > handle corn, tapioca/cassava, palm or potato.
