Guest guest
Hi Mitzi, I share your questions and concerns. I am a self-dx'd Aspie. My Drs. are reluctant to go looking for a diagnosis because of my age and present diagnoses that seem to do so well with my symptoms. That doesn't mean that I'm still not curious about Asperger's and Autism. The best suggestion I can offer is to keep in the group, jump in with all the questions you have, and keep contact with all the fabulous Moms (and Dads) here in the group. Links abound with excellent information about Autism Spectrum Disorders. Best of Luck. Dave ( ) Still trying to get use to the idea....... Hey guys, I am still trying to get use to the idea of having an Autistic child. He is high on the spectrum, they said High Functioning Autism. I was in denial for about a year. This school year for some reason I have come to terms with it, I guess I did for my son's sake. I am still kind of fuzzy on what Autism is and how he got it. He acts like a normal little boy for the most part. His school is great with him. They have teachers that special in Autism there and they do alot of one on one with my son, which Im greatfull for. His other schools in the past have labeled him as a problem child. But the school he is in right now is the best! Anyway I live in Georgia, I would love to meet others with children like mine. But I also need online friends that are going through the same thing. Any ideas and information will be greatly appreaciated. Also...they are running tests on my youngest son as well...he may have Autism too.... Please help me understand what is going on with my child! Thanks! Guest guest
My husband and I are also still getting used to the fact that our daughter has autism. She does not have an official diagnosis because we received the school psychologist's assessment and made an appointment with the Autism Clinic for 2 months later. I started researching and found out about the gfcf diet and supplements. By the time of the appointment, our daughter had improved so much that she only got a diagnosis of speech delay. But she can be like Dr. Jeckle and Mr. Hyde. She still has autism but her symptoms are masked by dietary changes. My husband sometimes 'forgets' she has autism and expects she can do something she can not. It is hard when sometimes we can see her improving to the point where she graduates from college and lives a rewarding life and sometimes she has such obsessive, rigid thinking that we cannot see her functioning in life as an adult. As for how our daughter got autism, it is complicated. Poor genetic detox ability and mercury poisoning from probably many sources. We are chelating the mercury out and so far she seems much better when actively chelating. But when the mercury resettles on the off days we can see her at her worse. Good luck with everything, Jen > > Hey guys, I am still trying to get use to the idea of having an > Autistic child. He is high on the spectrum, they said High > Functioning Autism.
