Guest guest
Hello, My son also has Asperger's, he's 10 and we have had a very difficult time with his social issues. We moved and even changed to private school but it still seems to be a major problem. We also live in the Detroit area, Troy. We are currently taking him to social skills workshops and his school also heavily reinforces the skills in everyday work. But no matter what is said he still doesn't " get it " and he would rather play with someone just to play, even if he is treated badly. -N > > Hello Everyone, I am a mother of 3 from Michigan. Guest guest
There is a web page called meetups.com. If you go to that page and search for Autism/Asperger's groups in your area, you'll find parents of like interest. If there are no groups there you can start one. It's free and you will attract others who have the same issues as you. Good Luck. Dave ( ) Friends for Hello Everyone, I am a mother of 3 from Michigan. Ages are 24, 22 and 12. My son who is 12 has Asperger's. He was diagnosed about 2 and a half years ago. He is a great kid and has a wonderful, kind personality however it has been very difficult for hime to make friends. Maybe because he is a bit quirky and his social skilss are not really good. I am looking for anyone who may know of a support group for kids his age in my area.We live in Michigan, in the Detroit Tri-county area. has started 7th grade this past September. KIds are very cruel and we have had some issues with kids bullying and teasing him. is a very good sport and takes it all in stride but I can see it does bother him. He really needs to make friends with the same interests as him. And of coarse that would be VIDEO GAMES. If any one out there can help I would be forever grateful. Guest guest
I wish I lived near by. But I have to comment that the key factor for friendships for my 13 year old is games. As long as the kids know what they are doing, the age doesn't matter to him at all *grin* It's nice to not be alone ;-) B > > Hello Everyone, I am a mother of 3 from Michigan.
