Guest guest
I am preparing for a case conference this week in which we will be discussing a behavior plan, including a crisis plan for my son's meltdowns. I fully expect the proactive behavior plan and a better classroom environment this year to greatly reduce the number of problems he has. But after last year, I am not ready to be complacent. We have worked out, in general, what to do if he makes it to the Cool Zone. However, I still need a plan to get him out of the classroom in the first place if he goes into shut-down mode. When I was at school one day last year, he had pushed his chair against another child when his joke was not understood twice. I was right outside of the classroom waiting for instructions for the field trip. The teacher came out and got me and I led him out by the arm. He was actually sitting still at his desk, but he needed a break. Anyway, I suppose someone else could that, too, but he doesn't like to be touched when he's like that. So he would probably fight them. And he doesn't like people to look at him in those times. I've read about plans, instead, to get everyone else out. It would probably be for a few minutes just so he can gain enough control to get himself out to the Cool Zone without the distraction of everyone looking at him. Anyone have anything like this?
