Hi,

My son was put on Abilify for his " OCD " which is Trichotillomania (hair

pulling), he has no eyebrows or eyelashes. We tried about a year on Risperadol

with no results. The Abilify so far (he's been on about 2 weeks) has given him

major shaking, which I think may have to do with his sugar levels. But so far,

it hasn't helped either. I am reading another group here on , the gfcf list

for gluten free casein free kids. I think that this " OCD " may be a dietary

problem.

WOW, if you need to know anything ASK A FELLOW MOM! You ladies are

GREAT!!

I am still not buying this OCD diagnosis, he has none of the criteria that I

have found, but has almost all of the Asperger's. I feel as if I am the one

who wants him to have a Asp dx and not an OCD dx. Don't know why that is.

We have further testing in 4 weeks so I am really going to take notes on

what happens, especially with this new Abilify medicine.

If your child is on Abilify have you noticed any side effects or change? It

is a mood stabilizer, very small dose of 2ml. Supposed to help with the

anger and meltdowns.

Thank you so much!

Why you want an AS dx is probably because you feel it fits. It's that old

common sense we mom's show up with sometimes. lol. We are using Abilify with

my 10 yo (hfa). I didn't really think it did that much to help him and I weaned

him off only to realize it was helping a lot. I think we started using it at

the same time school was starting and his anxiety went up along with the

dosages. So it didn't seem like we were getting anywhere with the med but in

fact, it was helping. It hasn't shown any side effects on him that we have

noticed at all.
