He put on 20 lbs. in less than 6 months, he hardly grew any taller and we are still battling with his weight today. After we changed to Haldol, he became more aggressive, less in touch and had halucinations. Jon had been on meds since he was 5 (for 5 yrs) and I thought we needed to get chemical free to see what we were dealing with. I don't object to meds, but I think we had worked ourselves into a mess and I thought his body needed a breather. Is on meds? If so what and do they help? >> : Oh! LOL! Sorry! Thought you meant he had done well on the Risperdal! My Dad was on Haldol when he went into Rehab for alcohol and had hallicinations with this med too! I'm taking to a MR child psychiatrist that our local MH/MR recommended, which conveniently takes Medicaid too! I am very anxious to hear what this doc has to say and what he'll prescribe for !! Currently, is on Risperdal and Wellbutrin for ADHD, and previously has been on Ritalin, Tofranil, Adderrall, Clonidine and Celexa!!! Some worked, some didn't......back to square one again.......current psych has " given up " on alternative med's unless he can do an EKG on , which would not allow and the doc doesn't want to put him under to do this..... Wish me luck, guys, will report on his findings after tomorrow!

Guest guest
Hi all, My DS is 13 yo & ADHD (I don't think he is AS but it has crossed my mind...especially socially) was just put on Strattera. Just wondering if anyone has used this or any insight about it. He thinks it is helping and its only been a week! Dr said it would take a month to see results. Thanks - C. Guest guest
Hi- I have an eigth year old son with Asperger's. He was put on Strattera about a year ago for anxiety. It has helped a lot to reduce his anxiety. He also has ADD, and the Strattera has helped with his attention span also. The doctor said it takes awhile for the medicine to build up in your system to see the full effect. The only side effects my son had were lack of appetite, and fatigue. The doctor told me to give him the medicine at night instead of the morning and both side effects diminished. Guest guest
My son said the same thing about one medication(adderall) and I asked the dr and he said if He (my son) thinks it is working then maybe it is or it is the placebo effect, either way if your son thinks it is working and you do I wouldn't worry unless it is NEGATIVE for ya'll.. Guest guest
Our dr said to give it to him after school because it may cause drowsiness. We were actually hoping it would because he has been having trouble sleeping (unwinding) It seems to be helping him sleep better! YEAH!!! - C.
