I'm so glad you have a good Dr. and I agree 100%. You can't push a normal child

into potty training too early let alone an aspie. I tried to push my daughter a

little too early and omg what a mess!! When they are ready they're ready. All 3

of mine were 4 to 41\2 before they realized they needed to go BEFORE they went

lol! While my mom told me I was 15 months old when I flushed my diaper down my

grandpa's toilet and never wore one again go figure! Anyway just wanted to say

you're doing the right thing and don't let the well intentioned people make you

feel any diferent about it!-- Alisha

Anyway he reassured us that she will get the hang of potty training and his

suggestion was to not push the issue and make it an issue. We haven't been

pushing it but were wondering if we should. It was so good to hear that our gut

instincts were right! I guess we try to do what we think would be best but it's

nice to hear from a professional that this is completely " normal " and she is

doing great. It makes it easier to tell the in-laws and other well intentioned

people.... " her Dr. said this is normal and we shouldn't push her " ......LOL :)

He also gave us some info about social stories. Has anyone done them or used

them?

Yes, I've just written two stories for a little guy I play with a few times a

week. You can usually find more information about them by googling " social

story " or you can go to carol gray's website --> http://www.thegraycenter.org

All I know is to make it a game. If you can figure the time when the potty is

necessary, sit him every hour or every half hour. You use the potty, get him

into the idea of when and why.
