Guest guest
-----Original Message----- From: Singleton [mailto:cynthia@...] Great News!! SB 419, the early intervention autism insurance bill filed by Sen. Lucio and co-sponsored by Sen. Deuell is scheduled to be heard by: the Committee on Health and Human Services Date: Tuesday, March 20 Place: Senate Chambers Time: 12:00pm until??????????? .. The bill redefines autism as a 1) neurobiological condition; 2) requires therapies--including ABA--for children 3 - 5; and 3) prevent discrimination against persons with autism. The hearing is scheduled to begin at 11:00 am and will be include hearings for 10 other bills as well. Realistically, SB 419 related testimony has a 20% chance of even beginning at 12:00pm. Anyone planning to testify to the hearing should bring snacks and plan to be in the Senate Chambers until dinnertime. IF YOU ARE IN OR NEAR AUSTIN AND CAN'T STAY ALL AFTERNOON, you can still make a huge impact by filling out and leaving a witness card with the committee clerk. It should take you about 30 minutes at the capitol(including parking time) This can be done by arriving any time after 1pm, going to the Senate Chambers, and filling a witness card like this: Name: Your name Bill: SB 419 (very important to get the bill number correct) Testify: For Do not wish to testify. A witness card ensures that your support of the bill becomes a part of the public record without killing an entire afternoon. This will be HUGE if we can get a lot of people to do this. I will be happy to watch children while people are filling out their card if someone has to bring their child. Please forward this to anyone who would be interested and supportive of the SB 419 in or near the Austin area! Thank you for your help and support on this. Together we can help make things better for families of children with autism in Texas!!! Singleton
