Guest guest
I used to post here frequently last summer...but have fallen behind. I have a 4yo with HF-Asperger's. We were dx in August. We are in the midst of the paperwork for Wisconsin's in home autism waiver to get medicaid. Then we have to wait forever still to get approved/denied to start ANYTHING. Ok. Here's my issues. TODAY day care had to call my husband at work to try to get him to calm my son down over the phone. He was hitting, punching, out of control. The provider said he was like a caged animal lashing out at others that he was near; including big kids, and smaller ones too. They had the pastor take him into his office and try to talk to him about the things he was doing, and that they were bad, and inappropriate. They are on the edge of kicking him out. I live in a small town, that's 20 minutes away from other towns, this is the 2nd of the two daycares in town and the first we were kicked out of. I HAVE to work to still get health insurance. We don't qualify for health insurance through the state or anything. He and his 3yo sister are only in their care from 1:30 until 5:10 pm. daily. I know that he doesn't always take a nap there, and that escalates his 'bad' behavior on those days. We get there right at nap time, and he does not get a 'wind-down' time. I do it before we go there, but it seems useless some times. Where do I go from here? There are no special needs day care type places-places that are qualified to take care of 'out of the ordinary' children. We tried getting into the early childhood education classes at the public school, and through the evaluation process were told he dind't qualify. He didn't have enough 'problems'. Do I try to get him some counseling? Do I try to find a sitter in home that is in home, and can spend more one on one time with him? (I've lived here a year and still know no one to sit or friend-wise!!!) Do I call the ECE teacher and see if she can recommend anyone??? Do I have him tested for wheat/gluten allergies? HELP! I dont' know what to do next. My son is out of control, and we are at wits end. Thanks anyone for any help. Shell
