Subject: [HPN] hospital day program report

Hi all...well they " think " Delia is being released from her hospital day school

next Monday. I got the report that they are sending the school with the

recommendations which include a 1:1 aide. Keep in mind that last year at this

time. I had a " normal " kindergartner doing everything she was supposed to be

doing. (with a diagnosis of Hyperlexia)This is still so hard for me to absorb

and accept.

Here are her diagnosis:

Axis I-Intermittent Explosive Disorder

ADHD NOS

Visual Motor Integration Disorder/fine motor delays

Hyperlexia

Axis II-Asperger's Syndrom

III-non -contributory

IV-peer, educational family, social stressors

Axis V: 40

Does anyone know what the III and V mean? I get the rest..should have asked them

today, but was too stressed out to think.

They did emphasize clearly that she is not willful or defiant or that she has

any premediation to hurt others. I was very glad for this because the FBA in her

previous school alluded that she was purposefully seeing how far she could get.

I do have my doubts as to her chance of success in the regular school without a

time out room. She reacts very badly to hands being put on her and cannot handle

restraints. We have agreed to pick her up if she gets that out of control. There

is nothing else we can do if we want to give her this chance in public school.

She really does not want to leave school-sees it as failure so I don't think she

will milk that.
