Why testing at age 17 and doubts of diagnosis

Hi all and hi Sharon, My son was tested at 17 because

he had severe anxiety. He was put on Risperdal and

that helped temporarily. He got an IEP and only went

to school to two classes a day. I had a meeting with

the therapist and school psychologist and it was

suggested he be tested, so we did test him. I am now

reading a book called " A Mind Apart " and I see no

other symptoms of Asperger's in my son except the

social anxiety, so I am confused.

Anyway, my son passed his California Proficiency Exam

so now he is legally done with school when I sign a

paper. He seems so relieved. People in my family don't

believe he has it and I am wavering back and forth,

does he have it, or doesn't he? Is that common with

those of you when your children were diagnosed.

Sincerely, Connie
