Hi,

I'm new so I'll introduce myself. I'm . I have an 11-year-old,

sixth grade son with Asperger's, sensory issues, ADHD and aggression

problems. We live outside Chicago and I'm very dissatisfied with his

school. He's in a township therapeutic school because the district

says it can't serve him. Does anyone know of any good school districts

and/or programs somewhere in the Chicago area for a kid like mine?

Thanks

If they used those words 'can't serve him' and it is in writing.....then you have all the amo you need for them to PAY for any school you want him to go to that CAN meet his needs.

Save anything they write & make sure that when they talk to you (in the hall or wherever) that you follow up with an email so you will have it in writing.

Good luck. This is a hard road.

Hi! MY name is Carole. I am also new here. We lived Napperville Ill.

for two yrs.My oldest went to Welch Elem.(K & 1st)My son was not on an

IEP at the time but he was dealing with PTSD really bad. They were

great with us and we had some big problems to deal with.(guns ect)

I have 2 boys almost 7(HFA) & 10(AS). I believe it is against the

law to tell you that. Children cannot be turned down in public

schools. Hope all goes well, Carole

Thanks!

I have decided to consult with a lawyer. The school district says the

therapeutic school serves his needs, but I disagree strongly. I'll be

meeting with Micki Moran today. I'll let you all know how it goes. The

one thing I always remember and everyone else should too is that it's

never bad to have high expectations for our children.

I also am just finishing up my special ed master's. Just thought I'd

throw that in. I'll let you know if/when I get a job and where.
