Guest guest
My son was just diagnosed with AS on Wednesday and I am still in the learning process of understanding this. In the meantime my family keeps asking " what is it? " I tried to explain, but I couldn't do it very well. Sure, I will give them things to read and they will learn in that way because they are family, but it got me thinking about how do you explain this to someone who is not family? Is there a simple way to explain my son's condition so they don't think I'm just a bad parent? For example, someone I know (who doesn't know Jordan has AS) told me Jordan 'seriously needs Ritalin'. Should I mention to aquantinces that Jordan has AS or just let them think my child is weird/hyper/spoiled? In public, Jordan can bring a lot of attention to himself, by the way. That is why I ask. I am always apologizing to someone when we go out.
