Guest guest
If lying was an Olympic sport my son would win a gold medal. He lies about everything and anything, denies things in the face of evidence, and then backtracks saying he didn't exactly mean that, or he was misunderstood. Guest guest
Not sure, My son lies or tells fibs easily, (more like tells about things that didn't happen, rather than lying about something because he did something wrong). >>> " estellelws " <estellelws@...> 5/24/2007 11:02 AM >>> Hi All I was just wondering if any of your kids are very honest? I ask because my ds Adam seems unable to lie at all. Don't get me wrong i am glad he is not telling lies. It's just that he ofen hits his baby brother when i am out of the room and i hear the baby cry and say to him Adam what happend and he tells me straight that he hit him, he knows he is doing wrong and going to get into trouble for smacking his brother and yet he is so honest with his answer. It is always the same he never lies it's like he is unable to. I was just wondering if this can be common in kids with As. Thanks if anyone gets back to me on this! Guest guest
For the longest time my just turned 9 yo (HFA) son did not lie. Now, he glorifies in it. He'll lie for no reason at all because in his words he thinks it is interesting that people will believe him and it feels like he has a secret identity (he has toyed with the idea of growing up to be a spy). > > Hi All > > I was just wondering if any of your kids are very honest? > > I ask because my ds Adam seems unable to lie at all. Guest guest
Even a year ago he did something he could have easily lied about - he shot a kid with a nerf gun on purpose. Most kids would pretend it was an accident. He said he did it because he could not get the thought out of his head. He also entered puberty in the past few months, and it is early. > > > > Hi All > > > > I was just wondering if any of your kids are very honest? > > > > I ask because my ds Adam seems unable to lie at all. Guest guest
My son who is 17 is basically the same way. He will tell the truth even when he knows he will get in trouble – sometimes he will tell us about something before we even know about it. But, there are also times when it will take several conversations before he ‘fesses up to the whole truth! Guest guest
My some does this. He lies....but it is more of a game. When I'm firm & convince him to stop it & fess up, he always caves. It is getting harder and harder to do this tho. Some of it is also that he wants what he wants because he wants it. I don't think he thinks of the lies as lies but as a way to get what he wants. Does that make sense? Oh yeah......he does drive me crazy. ( ) Re: Honesty For the longest time my just turned 9 yo (HFA) son did not lie. Now, he glorifies in it. Guest guest
I know I should not laugh.....but I did chuckle a little when you said that he told her he did it b/c he could not get the thought out of his head. Preston does this all the time. He is very OCD. Not with physical actions but with thoughts. Combine this with impulse control and you have a big 14yr old problem. Sigh. Guest guest
Makes sense to me, mine never tells the truth it seems. His vice principle said she doesn't think he views it as lying, in his eyes it is the truth. The psychologist we saw told me the same thing. His world is black and white and if he admits he's lied then his existance becomes a lie in his eyes. Suzanne -- Re: ( ) Re: Honesty My some does this. He lies....but it is more of a game. Guest guest
Hi, It's the same with my twin AS daughters (5 yrs old). No matter what they do, they'll tell the truth and like your son will tell us even if we did not see it happen. Also, if they hit each other...they'll say " I want time out, I hit my sister " !!!!! We were so confused by this behavior but my husband boiled it down to them being very " honest and literal " about situations. They understand that for every action there is a consequence, it's just that it's (the punishment) " just a " consequence for them ...something which should automatically happen and they don't feel ashamed or scared of the punishment. In other words, if you throw a ball high up in the sky it will come back, so for them if they do something bad they always tell and expect the consequence. I don't know if I was clear enough in putting my point forward but hope it helps. Ima > > My son who is 17 is basically the same way. Guest guest
Ethan's secondary diag is OCD! Recently, he had a compulsion to smear poop along the side of the toilet and the side of my cabinetry. I was not amused when I found out, and I think threatened about everything in life if he ever did it again (including dressing him in pink dresses), but looking back, it was very funny how the whole thing played out - including how he tried to hide it - smeared it on the toilet near the wall so I would not see it, and how he planned on acting like he did not know who did it, but when confronted simply could not lie, and then how it turned into this one big session where he confessed all his previous lies. > > I know I should not laugh.....but I did chuckle a little when you said that he told her he did it b/c he could not get the thought out of his head. Guest guest
My son is the same with punishment. He's not quite as honest when it comes to getting in trouble for doing something, he'll try to lie about it. But he accidently fractured my toe and for about a month he kept trying to break his own toe to punish himself.sza25 <sza25@...> wrote: Hi,It's the same with my twin AS daughters (5 yrs old). Guest guest
Hey guys, thanks for the update. I did call Maximus after I wrote the note, and found out the information. I am settled down, but, man, I was like, what else can I do wrong. It's like I have started all the negative talk again, which, I believed, and man did my head start running off. Then I remember how it's a character defect of mine, complaining, so, I have to shut it off again. But, aha, the miracle happens once again. You all can guess why, I sat down and prayed. Actually, I got down on my knees and prayed. I believe honesty is not my second nature, so it's complicated when I do honesty, but I do it. Not 100%. But the best I can everyday. Thanks Tracey > > The degree of honesty I see on this web site is overwhelming and how > anyone could think that anyone on this site is using is beyond me. And > you know what?! Guest guest
One more thing, did I miss something about an accusation of using? If it happened, please let me know.
