Guest guest
Janice, Hi! I saw your recent post about your son's characteristics & couldn't help but to respond. He sounds alot like my son. My son is 11 & was recently diagnosed w/ AS. He has alot of the characteristics of an AS child but some he does not. He is also very intelligent especially in math & vocabulary & comprehension. He is good in sports but prefers not to engage in them, but has grudgingly played soccer since he was 5. He is very outgoing & talkative. He looks you in the eye when speaking & speaks with great emotion. He even acts & sings. However, he has trouble relating to his peers, he gets along better with people older & younger than him(even adults). He has the same problems tying his shoes that your son has & he has trouble using a fork & knife together. He speaks loudly & is often inappropriate. He interrupts & also has migraines & stomach aches recently due to not wanting to go to school because he feels he has no friends. He also has a hard time dealing w/ change. So, you can see that all AS kids are different & you have to deal w/ the traits your child is exhibiting. Hope this helps. Alli
