Since my DH showed me the description of AS last Friday I have kindof gone full steam ahead at 300 miles per hour. All of my sons eccentric behaviour seems to me to fit into the AS diagnosis, but I am beginning to fear that I may be twisting the diagnosis criterea to fit him. This wouldn't be the first time I have done this (I spent 3 months convinced I had borderline personality disorder). I took a screening test online at http://www.childbrain.com/pddq6.shtml and scored him at 95 (mild PDD), but when my mom (who sees my son on a daily basis) took it she only scored him at 34. My brother is a psychology major and says my son is definetly not AS. I talked to his Kindergarted teacher and she says she had not noticed any signs of a problem with him, and the school psychologist seemed sceptical that in two years of preschool no one had suspected it. (DH was pretty angry that I had gone to talk to the school psychologist without talking to him about it first). So am I exagerrating eccentric 5 year old behavior into something bigger? Its just that AS would explain so much of why he is different than other kids. I know if he has it that it is very mild, but what if he doesn't have it at all and I have gotten so many people worked up over nothing? And if its not AS is it something else?
