Hello my son is nearly 5. He has never enjoyed being around people as

probably most of your children. Just recently he has developed a fear

of strangers when we are out. It is really quite sad. It's only

certain people, but when he sees someone he freezes and either gives a

little scream or he won't walk past them. Today at the store he stuck

his hand out to a girl (like he was trying to keep her away). He does

this until I tell him it's ok Carson, it's ok. Then he'll run to me

as fast as he can, and go on like nothing happened. I was wondering

if anyone has experienced this. I appreciate any input. Pam

My son was like this before he started kindergarten. And even then it took him

two and a half years of kindergraten to finally be able to accept people that he

didn't know really really well in his personal space.

My 7yr old has done this for a few years now. He still does. When he

is playing outside with the neighbors and sees someone even walking

their dog on the sidewalk he runs to me and has this heavy " I'm so

scared " breathing. He even runs past the crossing guards at school

when in the crosswalk. Not sure if it's cars or the people he is

running from. He has A LOT of fears though.
