Guest guest
I wanted to tell you guys about something that happened with . He has been having an anxiety attack all evening and I finally had to give him a valium (the dr prescribed them for him - he takes one and usually is ok shortly after). This story starts two weeks ago (6th Oct) went for a walk down the hill to get something to snack on at the store. It is a mile or so down the hill but he does this on a regular basis - we have worked hard (him and I) so that he can. He left happy and energetic and came home scared to death! As he turned onto the road we live on, a BIG guy came up behind him and grabbed him hard by the neck and shoulder. He asked why he was messing with his girlfriend. He squeezed really hard on 's neck/shoulder. told him hadn't and the guy let go. ran home (we live about 7 to 8 houses from the corner). He coudln't tell me anaything about the guy other than he was BIG. Then, tonight he wanted to walk down the hill to the Blockbuster store. It was about 6:30 and getting dark but I didn't worry because he walks this route a lot and it was early evening. Well, on the way back home he turned the corner onto our road about 7:45 or so and what should happen but that guy comes up behind again and pokes him with a stick and tells him not to turn around. Again he asks why and if he was messing with his girlfriend. tells him no and the guy says " ok - just checking " . took off runnng for home. He was really out of breath when he got home and having a problem so I had him take a puff of his albuterol inhaler. When he caught his breath he told me what had happened - at the exact same spot as the other time. I wasn't going to report it but after chatting with some friends online - decided to do so. I called 911 and explained things to them. The 911 operator took the info and had a sheriff deputy call and take a report. When the deputy called he asked me about what had happened. He asked how old was and I explained that chronologically he was 22 years old but functionally he was 10 years old. Going for a walk on his own is something we ( and I) worked hard on. He walked to and from school (high school) which was a mile from home (this was how he earned part of his PE credit). He likes to walk down to Blockbuster and look at the games and pick one out. I had given him money to rent a game tonight. After getting his game, he stopped at the Jack in the Box and picked up a couple of tacos for me. I explained that is very able to go for these walks. This time was able to tell that he was big and that he seemed to be hispanic. He was too scared to turn around and look at the guy (I don't blame him - and the deputy understood that as well). Anyway - the deputy and I discussed some of the options - having carry pepper spray was not an option although it is legal because of jason's AS we didn't think it a safe thing for him to do. The other opetions were to run to the house across from that corner (he knows the people there a little bit - he is going to go down during the day one day soon and talk with them to be sure that it would be ok - i'm sure it will but want to make sure) and the other option is to not be out after dark. I hate the fact that can't feel safe to out of the house to go for a walk. The deputy said that they will have their swing shift guys cruise past occasionally in that area to see if they can spot anyone who might match that description. They are going to do what they can with the limited information we were able to give them. I am going to go out with (using my mobility scooter) one day and cruise that area to see if we can spot this guy). It has helped tonight that the police are taking this seriously. This guy better hope that this mom DOES NOT catch up with him. I would be most tempted to take care of him myself. I wouldn't actually do anything other than report him but it would be SOOOOOOO tempting!!! Tomorrow I'll be able to see if is going to be able to manage going for his daily walk (his doctor has him walking 3-4 miles a day for exercise) and usually he walks up to the golf course (1 mile) around 1 or 2 times (1 mile each) and back home (another mile). He loves going on his walks as this is something he used to do. The high school he graduated from (alternative hs) is right by the golf course and he used to walk to school and home each day (that is how he earned part of his PE credit). WHY do people have to be this mean to someone else??? thanks for letting me vent! hugs...........judith

Guest guest
Oh Judith... how terrible some people are. I am very sorry that your son had to endure this idiots nonsense. I hope the police catch this creep and give him a nice lesson on treating people properly!
