Guest guest
That's awesome! ( ) Great First Day! Today was my 7yr olds first day at his new school per IEP. And it was great! (And I was nervous all day.)The teachers rate the day with stars. One for each part of the day. Reading, math, writing, lunch and so on. Today he got 14/14! The teacher said there was no going under the desk, ear covering or yelling. I thought this may be because he was shy on his first day but the teacher said that he even participated in discussions!!! YEAH! Just thought I would share a great day =) Janine

Guest guest
Kristy, I'm in CA. He is in a public school still but this one has a sp ed program that helps with his issues. It is a very small class. 9 children and 4 teachers. He gets the attention that he needs and they teach appropriate ways to be angry/frustrated/overwhelmed. They say they reward the positives unlike his old school. Such a small class also means less noise and other stimuli which is a big plus. He will also continue therapy at this school and they do group therapy as well to help him with socialization. I just hope it continues to be as great as it seems to be now. -Janine > > Janine, Congrats! Guest guest
Janine, You have given me such hope. I'm in CA too! We are in the Bay area, and are currently looking to find a class with a smaller size, and more help. We are currently homeschooling through an ISP within our district, as we have not been able to find a good fit. We are doing OT, speech, therapy privately, and he gets OT, speech, vision, and now a 30 min per week socialization grp that I take him too. We just wished that we could find a school setting that would work for him. You are very fortunate to have found the school for your son...it sounds as if they have a great understanding of what your guys need. I hope that it continues to go well. Will he be in the same class next year as well? Kristy ( ) Great First Day! > > > Today was my 7yr olds first day at his new school per IEP. And it was > great! Guest guest
Who are you to say that all kids with AS should only attend schools for the handicapped and disabled? The parents on this board only want to do what is best for their child. laura (the lurker) tiffani ponzi <chancepaulbule@...> wrote: he need to be in aschool ware people how have disabilites like him need to be in a school onely with disabold and handicapt people thanks tiffani Kristy Caldwell <kcaldwell@...> wrote: Janine, You have given me such hope.
