Guest guest
Hi , My wife homeschooled our then 8 year old last year and it was very good for him. The biggest problem was that his younger brother, who was 5, was nearly on the same level academically and it bothered our AS son. Good luck. ( ) Homeschooling Aspergers kids? This is my first post, so I apologize if this has been asked previously. I have 3 kids: son (15), daughter (11), and other son (6½). It's my youngest son who has adhd and AS. We would all LOVE to homeschool next fall, but do AS kids do alright schooling at home, in anyone's experience? He is having difficulty in a " regular " classroom setup. I think the more individualized attention he'd get at home, plus my ability to incorporate his " obsessive interest of the month " (this month it's the root-canal procedure, haha!) into his lessons would be more enjoyable for him. BTW, we have several years' experience homeschooling under our belts--we just had to stop for a few years while we were going through the initial difficulty of having Wade properly diagnosed. :-) Liz
Guest guest
I did it for two years and feel it was the best thing I could have done for my son at that time. You already have the confidence since you homeschooled before. I would say just to make sure you continue with therapies (which I did not and my son's speech did not improve) and play groups. > > This is my first post, so I apologize if this has been asked previously. Guest guest
, we had the same experience with a younger sibling when I homeschooled them for two years. Placing the boys in school this year (and separate grades) helped them a great deal in regards to this. Unfortunately, my younger son was tested as gifted and my older and autistic son is very, very jealous of the fact his brother gets to go to enrichment classes. > > Hi , > > My wife homeschooled our then 8 year old last year and it was very good for > him.
