Guest guest
FYI The flu shot is one of the last remaining vaccines that contain thimerosol (mercury) as a preservative. Some people believe that mercury is the toxin that causes autism. Please note that I am just passing this information on. I am not posting this information to start a debate on the causation of autism but rather as one more piece of information so that parents can make an informed decision. Guest guest
I would ask your doctor. My son gets the flu shot because he has really bad asthma that flares most of the winter. The flu throws him into a really bad asthma flare that is hard to control. If we can help him in the smallest bit, we do. My middle child, oldest daughter (aspie with many medical issues) does not get the flu shot because she is allergic to it. She reacts to the egg in it. This is my child who can't eat any food what so ever, lives on a g-tube, can't have basic things like children's tylenol or pedialyte and gets second degree burns from bandaids. Like I said, she doesn't get the flu shot. My youngest daughter also does not get the flu shot. She is very healthy, yet a tiny four year old. The pediatrician said it's unnecessary for her. Personally I can't have the flu shot because my doctor said it isn't advised for people with more than one autoimmune disease. My husband doesn't get it because he hates needles. It's very individual. What does the doctor recommend? Stef ( ) Flu shot question????? are you giving your child the flu shot this year? I've been getting e- mail from other support servicers saying: if you can avoid the flu shot, to avoid it. so, now its flu season and just asking if you decided to give the shot or avoid it this year. And why? thank you
Guest guest
No, there is still thermisol in the shot. My daughter is already mercury toxic. > > are you giving your child the flu shot this year? Guest guest
Hello, I'm sorry you have so many challenges with many medicial conditions. that must be so hard. I pray everyone stays healthy and doesn't catch the flu. I was asking about the flu shot wondering if they changed any ingredient, that would be any concerns, like there are with vaccines. Thanks for responding. B Price <romans8@...> wrote: I would ask your doctor. My son gets the flu shot because he has really bad asthma that flares most of the winter. Guest guest
That is what I am trying to find out. This exact answer that you just posted. I have another question. If you feel this might start a debate on this site, you can e-mail me direct. I've read debates on this site before and I also don't want to start another one. My question is: Now that my kids are older, does the thimerosol in the flu shot still matter? Also, does getting the flu shot lower the immunity for our bodies to fight off colds and flu on its own? Thanks again for your opinion Belt3@... wrote: FYI The flu shot is one of the last remaining vaccines that contain thimerosol (mercury) as a preservative. Guest guest
someone just posted that there is a phone number you can call to see or order a flu shot without the " thermisol " . would that be a help for you? jennifer_thorson <jennifer_thorson@...> wrote: No, there is still thermisol in the shot. Guest guest
No, none of us will ever get the flu shot (or other vaccines) again. My sons and I are in the high risk category and are supposed to get one each year. Both of my sons have severe allergies, my youngest has asthma and I am a diabetic and have asthma. I used to make sure we all had our shots every year and we were constantly sick throughout the year. If we were around anyone with a virus or bacterial infection, we got it too. Now, we have only been sick a couple of times in the last 5 years and it didn't require any antibiotics- we really didn't notice being sick too much. Our asthma has improved also, probably because when an asthmatic is sick, it makes the asthma act up even more than usual. That's just our experience and my 2 cents worth. - :-) > > are you giving your child the flu shot this year? Guest guest
My personal opinion is that it does lower our natural immunity to fight off colds and the flu. I think any level of thimerosol regardless of age is bad for you. These are my own opinios and I am not trying to force anyone to believe the way I do. - :-) FYI > > The flu shot is one of the last remaining vaccines that contain thimerosol > (mercury) as a preservative. Guest guest
I won't be doing the flu shot. The one time I had the flu shot, I got the flu from it and I was miserable. Without any shot, I have only had the flu probably 2 times in my entire life. I am not going to risk getting the flu from the shot, and the mercury in the shots is a big concern for me. They decided that the mercury was a bad thing so they are not continuing to use it in new vaccines, but the drug companies have permission to use up the supply they already have because of the impact it would have on them financially to destroy the current supply. (Poor drug companies, barely scraping by...) So, it's hard to know if your doctor's office has some of the ones with mercury or not. Many doctors probably don't even know themselves. > > are you giving your child the flu shot this year? Guest guest
Thanks. from all the responses I've been getting, it seems like its a personal choice between " which is worst " : the actual thimerosol verses the flu itself. <ablessedfamily@...> wrote: My personal opinion is that it does lower our natural immunity to fight off colds and the flu. Guest guest
No flu shot for us. Flumist has: Each 0.5 mL FluMist dose contains the flu strains recommended by the U.S. Public Health Service for the 2005–2006 flu season: A/New Caledonia/20/99 (H1N1), (B/Shanghai/361/2002-like) viruses. Inactive ingredients include egg allantoic fluid, sucrose, potassium phosphate, monosodium glutamate (MSG) and gentamicin sulfate. FluMist does not contain preservatives. http://www.flumist.com/pdf/patientinfo.pdf I guess I am just not into having 'inactive' ingredients put into the body like that, but to each their own. Only you the parent can decide what is in the best interest of your family - not your friends nor family, and not even your doctor - think about those poor people who were prescribed Vioxx - the doctors never had a clue they were going to hurt somebody. It behooves all of us to research this stuff and make a decision on our own. > > are you giving your child the flu shot this year? Guest guest
Hello, this Flumist has no mercury in it. Have you take this before? That is why I asked my question about the flu shot. I didn't know there was anything else we can take to help fight the flu. thanks for posting. I'm going to find out more about this flumist. I bet its hard to get or insurance doesn't pay for it. Guest guest
Flu shots do not have thermosil added but the tanks are cleaned with thermosil. So it would not be in the ingredients list. > > > > are you giving your child the flu shot this year? Guest guest
Until they find another way to clean between batches without using thermosil, then it is still there in trace amounts. To most children this is not a problem but I believe it is a problem for most children with autism. They sell them as thermosil free but they are not. I believe that leads a lot of well meaning parents down the wrong road. My daughter has mercury poisoning now and I am going to spend up to two years removing it and hoping that most of the damage can be repaired. On that note, the 3 days we did chelation this week we the best days I have had with my daughter. Then as the mercury has resettled she has started to regress. But I need to give her time off the chelator to allow her body to rest. But I have seen the real child in her. For me I am taking a natural approach to everything now. I am supplementing to help her fight off viruses. But if she gets sick than I will deal with it. For me the risk of increasing toxins in her body is worse than the flu. Plus the flu shot is not a ticket to a healthy winter. Jen > > > > are you giving your child the flu shot this year? Guest guest
Hi , I'm glad your having great progress with your daughter and I pray it continues. When I was a child, we never heard of mercury being in anything. Now, its such a concern in everything. at price chopper, while waiting for my order at the fish section. they have a book explaining all different types of fish. they even had a chart that explained the mercury level some fish have. If your watching your daughters mercury intake. I'm sure you already know about some of the foods too. thank you - Hugs to you jennifer_thorson <jennifer_thorson@...> wrote: Until they find another way to clean between batches without using thermosil, then it is still there in trace amounts. Guest guest
People will say not to because there is thimerosal in it. I never have given my kids a flu shot but it is just because we've never done it and not because of any controversy. Guest guest
There is a ton of information on the Autism/Mercury forum. I joined only to get information about autism from all viewpoints. But the more I read, the more I started to see that vaccines could be the cause. Now I am not a 100% believer, but I have opened my eyes and changed my direction with the info I have gained. I would never have thought that my daughter had mercury poisoning, but I did a hair test and found she has a high probability of mercury poisoning. The only source I know of is from the vaccines. I believe there are other genetic forces at work, but I am not vaccinating anymore. Jen -- In , " " <cmcintosh5@...> wrote: > > How do you know that? Guest guest
We are chelating with ALA so it is important to remove all sources of new mercury. My daughter has never liked seafood so that is not a problem. > > > > > > are you giving your child the flu shot this year?
