Guest guest
Surrey Place Centre 2 Surrey Place Toronto, ON M5S 2C2 July 12, 2005 Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing to you about the upcoming book Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Ivan Brown and Maire Percy (Editors) to be published by H. in 2006. This is actually the third edition of Developmental Disabilities, published in 1999 by Front Porch Publishing and in 2003 by the Ontario Association on Developmental Disabilities. We are seeking information about your personal or professional opinions about what the future should hold in the field of intellectual and related disabilities to include in the last chapter of the third edition. We would like to learn about what you believe are the current strengths and weaknesses in service, education and/or research in the field of intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, and your recommendations or hopes for the future. We are looking for the opinions of individuals with intellectual or developmental disability or their advocates who have received treatment or accessed services for intellectual or developmental disabilities, as well as the opinions of caregivers and clinical workers who have provided such treatment or services, as well as views from students and academics. The book is primarily intended for students who are becoming introduced to the topic of intellectual and developmental disabilities. It includes chapters on employment, educational, residential, public, medical, and legal services for both children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as on other topics. We would appreciate your opinions on any aspect of service, education and/or research in the intellectual and developmental disabilities and your recommendations for reform. Please try to keep your comments to under 200 words. Let us know if you wish the material to be anonymous or if you should be credited by name. The information that you provide may be used as a box in the chapter, or be incorporated into the text. We look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Rivka Birkan Assistant to Ivan Brown and Maire Percy __________________________________________________
