Guest guest
The essential fatty acids (EFAs) in fish oils are some of the building blocks of the nervous system. There is discussion as to whether different ratios of DHA to EPA is better for children with speech or behavioral issues. I give my son ProEFA by Nordic Naturals which is fish oil, but not from cod liver. I also give him probiotics - these are just good for overall digestive health and help control yeast which has been associated with autism symptoms. Here are some articles I had bookmarked on fish oils and behavior: http://www.guardian.co.uk/parents/story/0,3605,1122449,00.html#article_continue http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/medicalnews.php?newsid=19041 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/health/healthmain.html?in_article\ _id=391503 & in_page_id=1774 http://www.abc.net.au/stateline/sa/content/2006/s1666219.htm http://autism.healingthresholds.com/research/essential-fatty-acids-are-mediat These document an assocation between ADHD and a deficit of EFAs: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve & db=PubMed & list_uids=7\ 572706 & dopt=Abstract http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?itool=abstractplus & db=pubmed & cmd=R\ etrieve & dopt=abstractplus & list_uids=16962757 Hope that helps!! -kim ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Now that's room service!
