Guest guest
Dear Kim, Wow! An explanation that never occurred to me. Glad I asked. No, my son was never diagnosed with ADD or ADHD. He was designated " other health-impaired " by our school system because he didn't fit any of their usual categories, but he needed some kind of label so that he could get special ed services. I did attend a few meetings of a local support group called CHADD (not sure what the acronym means -- children with ADD?) when he was in elementary school, but thought the description of ADD or ADHD didn't quite fit him -- although some of the suggestions for helping him were quite useful. When he was in 5th grade, the school psychologist was the first person who mentioned Asperger's to me. I went home and looked it up on the Internet -- and couldn't believe how closely the descriptions I found there fit him! The rest is history.
