HEEEEELLLLP

He will wet his bed.. Or his clothes... Still.. He's 10. I handle this by

not giving him heck.. And not punishing him. I just remind him to go to the

washroom before he goes to bed ( followed up by double checking LOL because

we can forget in between then and.. Bed LOL)

He is embarrassed by it.. And tries to hide it.. And I know its just

because he is unaware of his body... But when will it end??? LOL

My son is ten.. High functioning autism.. I am looking forward to some

answers from everyone please..

1.

IS your child dry for at least one month at a time??

And if so..

2. At what age did that start for your child...

And..

3....

Is your child diagnosed as high functioning or lower functioning?

Thanks so much... Just call me LAUNDRY DAY CHRIS again LOL

embarrassing or making it a big issue. His doctor said it is pretty common in

AS children. They sleep so deeply that they cannot feel the urge to go.

Limiting drinks after 7 pm helps. If you learn of something, please share it.

We are all in one big boat.

I can feel your pain. My son is 11 and has AS. He still wets the bed about

once every 3

months or so but for us the problem is making to the bathroom when he is awake.

He

cannot tell when he has to go or he doesn't finish when he is in there, I think

it is a

combination of both. When he was younger, it was because he didn't want to stop

what he

was doing to have to go to the bathroom. He was not what I would have called

potty

trained until about 6. He will walk around with wet pants and it doesn't seem

to bother

him. He says he doesn't feel it until someone tells him. Then he gets

embarrassed. He

used to do this several times a day, but now he is down to about once a week.

Also, he

has a big problem with bowel movements in his pants. He says he can't feel it

until it

starts to happen and then it is a race to the bathroom. This happens at least

once a

month at school, but from his dirty laundry I think it happens at least once a

week.

That really embarrasses him and I am not sure what to do about it. Has anyone

used the

Goodnights for their preteen child? I have thought about it, but they are so

bulky and

his problem is during the day. My son is so skinny that the adult sizes would

fall right

off him. I just keep hoping that someday he will grow out of it. I can already

see his

getting better just compared to last year.
