Guest guest
Might sound silly but have any of you noticed an increase in meltdowns during or around a full moon? I realized that I have made that connection in the past and my Aspie had a bad day yesterday - full moon. I figure if it's documented that criminal activity increases during the full moon it makes sense to me that my aspies crankiness could increase as well. Well, just a thought! Guest guest
Defintiley noticed it! My boy did ok most of the day until it was time to stop swimming and go eat. Of course, once we were out of the pool he adjusted rather quickly and was happy to eat pizza for dinner. A friend of mine runs a home daycare and she said all the kids have been off for most of the week but yesterday was particularly bad. ~ > > Might sound silly but have any of you noticed an increase in meltdowns > during or around a full moon? Guest guest
-wow how would of thought, my son has been cranky for the past few days and yesterday had a horrible tantrum! I do know that it gets strange with my patients at that time too. Definetly food for thought. noel -- In , " " <ceezeec@...> wrote: > > Might sound silly but have any of you noticed an increase in meltdowns > during or around a full moon? Guest guest
yes I have noticed more agitation around full moon time. My older son, who is AS and 15, had a bad day yesterday. He was very argumentative with my younger son, ate dinner, did homework and went to bed at 6:30 p.m and slept till 6:00 a.m. Pam
Guest guest
Hi! I'm a newie to the group from Australia. I was interested to read that you have a Asperger's child as well as a bi-polar son. Do you know of any link between the 2? I ask because I have a 13 yr old Asperger's son, and I am bi-polar (I also have a 16 yr old ADHD son, and my 10 year old is gifted and a little eccentric). Cheers. _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Sheri Briley Sent: Friday, 8 September 2006 11:35 PM Subject: Re: ( ) Full Moon? Guest guest
LOL OMG!! That's amazing because every time my boys start acting out, I check to see what phase the moon is in and it's more often than not a not full moon!! Everybody I know keeps track of the moon phases to determine when the best time of the month to do ANYTHING with their kids will be--usually a week before and a week after. It's not scientific or anything, but we've all noticed that ALL of our kids, whether they be NT or AS or ADD/ADHD or whatever, act out more during the full moon than any other time of the month. mother of /8/anxiety, GERD, asthma /6/AS, anxiety, epilepsy, asthma Hunter/4/asthma Dylan/1/NT ( ) Full Moon? Guest guest
LOL glad to know i am not the only one that stays in, locks the door, and prays for the next moon phase. My son is impossible on full moon nights. He will even tell you now that there is a full moon. We usually are pulling him down from the top of the couch or trying to discourage running up and down the hall way for 4 hours. & <aviationgod@...> wrote: LOL OMG!! Guest guest
Hello, I'm a newbie too. I have a six-year-old daughter with Asperger's. I was browsing the files posted in this group and found this (I've capitalized the part that answers your question): Asperger Syndrome Children and Tantrums Submitted by aditi on Thu, 2005-12-22 11:45. Author:Nelle Frances Children with Asperger's Syndrome the world over share a common trait - meltdown - otherwise known as a tantrum, a " birko " , a " go- off " or " spack-attack " . The visible symptoms of meltdown are as varied as the Asperger children themselves, but every parent is able to describe their child's meltdown behaviour in intricate detail. Meltdowns can be short lived, or last as long as two hours. They can be as infrequent as once a month (OFTEN COINCIDING WITH THE LUNAR CYCLE/FULL MOON) or occur as frequently as 4-6 times a day. Whatever the frequency and duration, an Asperger child having a meltdown is difficult for parents/carers/teachers to deal with. Meltdown in Asperger children is triggered by a response to their environment. These responses can be caused by avoidance desire, anxiety or sensory overload. Triggers need to be recognised and identified. > Might sound silly but have any of you noticed an increase in meltdowns > during or around a full moon?
