I requested an IEE done before my son's IEP this year so the committee could

have his PLOP to base the IEP on.

Do you ask for present levels of performance before an annual case conference?

Report cards will be sent home the Friday before our Monday conference. But

there's

speech, and behavior and social issues. His academic issues are minor, mostly

reading.

I plan to observe him at school in PE, at recess, and a bit in the classroom

before the

conference.

I suspect most of the meeting we'll be discussing the behavior plan, but I would

like all their

data points before I hit the door.

Yes, but do you get the info *before* the meeting so you know

beforehand what you would like as far as services, or to make an

attempt to make goals for the next year..so you're not hit with

something new while you're sitting there at the table?

I don't know what all they are going to evaluate. It's not time for a big

re-eval. But they are

going to tell me how he's doing at recess or PE or behavior-wise. I assume

there are things

in speech to identify whether he met this year's goals or not. Isn't that all

PLOP? I just don't

want to go to the meeting and suddenly be hit with " your son is picking his nose

19 times a

day and it has to stop NOW " ....or something. LOL Or, " Well, he's got those THs

down, so he's

done with speech now. "

You can always request that information. If the team does his PLOPs before

hand. Some team members come with everything predone..some don't. Pam :)

If you are also writing his IEP at this meeting, you can request that they

send home their proposed IEP prior to the meeting so that you can look over

what they have in mind. You can also make up your own list of things you'd

like to see worked on so you can add your own thoughts to the IEP.

I have my list going, but I think I need to reword some of it to make it sound

more

positive and forward-moving. ;) I plan to have that to them one week in

advance of the

meeting. He is just so different at school than he is at home. (Or, his

differences really

are more evident at school.)
